    Batteries- What do you run?

Hi friends, I generally only suggest a ACDELCO battery, only $94 ( I think last 1 was $130) and my last 1 lasted 10 years in my daily in Kansas that is not garaged. Keep in mind Kansas had crazy heat and cold cycles. I do love Project farm, but he only tested new products. any new product will...

    Towing with my ppv

That is awesome! My dad was that guy. I remember as a kid in a small town when my dad and his boss got thiers new and they called it a pop-car. It has a gas engine like a mower and they rolled out to do those repairs. They used it for years, then it was replaced by a High-Railer and I think it...

    Thoughts on Rotella oil

From my experience as a truck driver, rottella is it is high in detergents and will clean internals really well. I used 2ice in my 03 5.3 and it got cloudy very quickly (200k). Changed after 400 MLS and then again last year (260k) and it took another 200-300 miles to get cloudy, then settled...

First time changing engine oil 2005 Yukon XL

Hey all, I suggest Castrol full synth with Partsmaster 61522 (about $5 from rockauto.com) this is Wix 51522 equal. I ordered both, cut open and all items were identical. I think my Tahoe called for the 51045 (short) filter, but prefer the tall can. Did the same with Wix 51258 and had same result...

    Recommended tires

-Michelin Defender LTX +2 Love my defenders so far, recommended by my shop guy as that's all he runs. My last set was destination LE2 and only got 32k out of 60k rated. Supposed to get 70k+ on michy's... So we'll see. Very smooth and quiet, haven't had snow yet, but am hoping to soon. Good...

    Cutting out the spare?

Just replaced my hoist assembly, literally yesterday because my spare was rusted solid. I had a flat last week and was screwed, it would've been a brisk walk home if I didn't have friends, yay friends! Lol!

2001 Silverado Lifter ticking with cold

piston slap possibly From what I had found, it might be from the pistons in newer powerplants have shorter pistons and that the manufacturer coated them with Teflon and it wears off after about 150k miles (depending on fluid changes and type used). I believe mine started making that sound at...

Not Seeing Any Substantial Value To Using Tow/Haul Mode

Don't know if this helps, but I researched on my 03 Tahoe for adding OEM trans temp gauge and found sumwhere that tow-haul will increase line pressure making trans shift a bit quicker and act a bit like a mild shift kit to reduce fluid temp. I think you may notice the tach needle move a bit...

    Questions About First Oil Change

I use 2 quart's full synthetic and rest of conventional Castrol 5w-30 in Winter and 10w40 in summer with 250k miles with the same synthetic and conventional mixed. I don't use the premixed anything. I don't recommend going to lube shops, to many horror stories. Find a local gm shop that has a...

Transmission not shifting real great 2004 Yukon XL Denali

Does it have toe-haul button? Does it seem like that tow-haul button is active? And maybe the cluster light is inop... Maybe? Always check the cheapest solution first, hope it doesn't cost u much bud. I think that is how my 03 Tahoe acts, but not sure, I'll check after a bit. ;)

    Is 90k miles too high

Most important thing is are fluids the right color and smell? I bought my Tahoe with just under 200k and changed all fluids as all were nice, not clean, but ok to change/flushed. I heard you do not want to change trans after 100k, but I have not confirmed this. I just get with higher mileage if...
