I disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes, cleaned the terminals, cleaned the alternator connections and she works perfectly just as before. Thanks guys
Hey guys, have a sudden electrical problem that kind of materialized out of nowhere. The wife left the lights on last night and drained the battery, so I jumped it this morning. No big deal right? Now the truck starts, runs and drives fine- but the ABS light, battery light and seatbelt lights...
Haha, just that easy eh? I've read that the intake and tune is kinda pointless without a new cam and that the cam is the most restrictive part of the engine, would it make more sense to just do that now? Any cam recommendations? I can stretch the budget if it means not having to ship a PCM twice...
Hey guys, was hoping to get a bit more power out of my 4.8L ex-police Tahoe. 2004, completely stock except rims. It runs perfectly- doesn't leak or burn a drop- but being an former cop car it's getting tired with over 5000 engine hours. I live in the mountains of BC and going uphill she really...
Mine (2004 4.8L) flashed that message and it turned out to be the transfer case encoder motor sensor. The light on the 4WD selector switch went to red eventually and it wouldn't switch from 2WD. Had to take the motor off the t-case, take it apart and replace the sensor. About 3 hours front to...
Thanks for the in depth reply! Had no idea about the "duty based" minder, I thought it was strictly mileage based. It looks and smells normal but I'm going to change it anyways, $30 is a pretty reasonable insurance policy against engine damage. Cheers
Hey all-yesterday I was driving up a steep washboard logging road and the inlet heater core fitting by the firewall broke in half. Obviously coolant pissed everywhere and temp gauge went straight to max. I shut the truck off right away, got it turned around, put it in neutral with the engine off...
Yep, I had the same problem along with "SERVICE 4WD" message on the dash. This was the cause, took about 2 hours to change. $50 or so for the part from Rockauto.
Howdy- lately the Tahoe (2004, 4x4, 4.8L) has been running a bit rough, seems down on power and accelerates unevenly...kind of wobbly or oscillating RPM when holding speed going up hills especially. Did the plugs and wires a few months ago as preventative maintenance and the old ones looked...
If anyone's interested this has been resolved after a $350 trip to the dealer. Turned out to be the wiring BEHIND where I spliced the pigtail to the TPS in. Five faulty wires, I just had them replace all eight. If anyone's getting intermittent P0220, P0120, P1516, P2135 I suggest checking these...
Hey guys, my Tahoe's been throwing error codes (P0220, P2135, P0120) and going into limp mode but only immediately after starting, not while driving. I already replaced the TPS and pigtail about 6 months ago and had no issues until the other day. Had the same codes and problem then except the...
I am cheap ghetto though! It's a perfect fit. Also this Tahoe is a rig runner from Vancouver to Alberta so it gets beat on pretty hard, not too concerned about keeping it pristine cause that will be impossible. Can't beat full size SUV comfort on those 15 hour commutes though.
Yeah I was (mostly) joking about the burnt legs, had the stock exhaust unbuttoned at the y-pipe to see how it would sound and fumes were noticeable in the cab, but that was exiting right under the body. Coming out under the rear passenger door I doubt there would be any issues but wanted to ask...
