I’m pretty confused right now, I’ve looked in the forums, on google, plenty of websites and all I get is mixed answers!

Performance wise: What is better? No cats vs Cats?

I like dogs better than cats. Cats restrict horsepower production. All that exhaust has to be pushed through those little honeycombs in the catalyst, it's a no brainer.

When I used to repair the cats on my cars (gut them), there was a performance increase but also a slight and noticeable noise increase.

True. Noticeably more throaty. My cats are deleted and I have long tubes along with an MBRP muffler=LOUD!

With the technology today there is no gains seen from removing them on a street car (or truck). All the aftermarket companies make hi flow converters. If I were to build a dedicated drag car I would delete them. But only for weight reduction.
If dodge can squeeze 830 hp through cats on the Demon or GM 755 hp through cats on the new ZR-1 then the average guy can use them on his ride. If your deleting them because of cost - I picked up two hi flow Walker cats for less than $250 brand new. And that is in Canada where we get ***** huge duty on anything as soon as it crosses the border.

You’re lucky! My Options for cats are so limited because of stupid California SMOG laws. I can’t buy the walker high flows because they aren’t legal here! I have to buy expensive AF OEM cats. Damnit..... lol

How much is it to remove the cats?
I would have preferred to leave them on but when I went to long tubes, I also got a y pipe and the shop said there wasn't room to weld on cats. I had already bought 2 aftermarket high flow cats--which are for sale. I live in NJ, which is a smog state. They also do a visual here, so i don't know how im gonna do at inspection time. My 2 O2 sensors down stream are deleted. Tuned out at the pcm.
