BlackBear tune, still not right

I have a new Maf I cleaned the throttle body and have just replaced plugs, I think they need to just look over my tune. When I first sent it to them I had just put in a 6.0 not long it acted up, heads were bad so I replaced it with factory 5.3 I think they are still tuning it thinking I have the 6.0 still in it.
Do you have a traditional or scan cable? Sounds like you have a traditional... There is not much for them to "look over" unless you did a scan cable or AutoCal tune. There could be a mechanical issue or nuance to your vehicle that they have no idea about.

Did you let them know you switched engines?

Traditional tune, I sent it back in and told them it's for a 5.3 not 6.0 now

Got it, thanks didn't see that email I guess, thanks for the help. I was just thinking maybe theyou didn't get that the 5.3 was back in the truck, so they tuned it for that instead of the 6.0

It was tuned for the 5.3. You may consider upgrading to the scan cable, there could have been an issue with the reinstall. Can't tell you how many times they diagnosed an install issue for a customer via data logs.

I can attest to that. They helped me solve a problem thru email that 3 dealers couldn't even find with their fancy gm tech 2. And it only took sending a 20 minute data log and 1 email. Justin nailed it right on the head and 10$ later, my car was fixed.

okay usually when u buy something thats expensive and it dont work you dont send them an email and wait around two weeks for a reply
you get someone on the dam phone to help you figure it out they still got those don't they telephones?
The phone call .. is great for "hand holding" as it were but a phone call can't get you answers directly. Tuners need to see the "Data Logs" in order to help with a tune or problem solving.

I'm sure a they'd be happy to explain how things need to be done in a "phone call" but if your not driving to the shop ... then you'll still need to send in the data logs. . :)

I'll chime in here...reluctantly.
I drove to TX and had Justin tune my Yukon.
Added headers and exhaust and purchased an Autocal.

Tried multiple times to get the data, but the instructions were vague. I was asked if I read the instructions on the website, which I had.
Sent multiple e-mails and finally got a step-by-step e-mail on how to log the data.
That info I got at that point was not on the website.
Call me crazy, but if there is a step-by-step method, I don't want to guess what it is. The instructions on the website did not provide those details.
Finally got the data after the 3rd or 4th try and sent it in.

Got the updated file back and tried to load it on the truck.
Same thing. Multiple steps and screens that were definitely not in the instructions.
More e-mails sent. Asked several times if someone could help me via phone. No luck there.
The entire loading process only takes a few minutes.
I was disappointed that I couldn't get someone to help my dumb@$$ with a 5 minute phone call after all of the e-mails that didn't get it done.

I had multiple screens that I did not know what to do with. I didn't know whether to hit the back arrow or the OK button or what.
Folks, if it is a step, you should have that step listed in an instruction somewhere. Vague generalities are just that. This really burns my behind.

At the end of the day, I don't know if it loaded correctly or not. I know I had an error code at the end and assume it's not right.
This all happened MONTHS ago. I gave up. A good chunk of money spent on an Autocal that I haven't been able to get right.

I was impressed with Justin's work in TX. Far less impressed afterwards. Been keeping my mouth shut, but decided to speak up.
Not trying to intentionally "bash" BBP, but if my honest experience is taken as such, I guess I can't help that.

I think BBP could and should have better detailed instructions that actually take you through the process, so no guesswork is required.
Maybe even an instruction video.

I had a similar experience with another online tuner (not throwing him under the bus) when I got my Silverado SS tuned. After that tune I refuse to anyone unless they are local, that way if I run into a problem I can easily drive over to their shop and get my shit fix. On this particular tune I ended up paying for it twice one for the online tune and the second time for a local tuner to make the adjustments needed to get my truck to running right..

My experience with BBP was flawless a few years ago. Mine was a cable tune/ECM swap with a crank relearn. Instructions covered everything I ran into and Emails were quickly responded to. There are glitches with any business though.
