    Engine issues

Well, start by replacing the fan clutch if it's not working...and go from there. Welding a washer/nut on the broken bolt works. I've done this before, but on engines that have been out of the vehicle or heads on workbench. You can remove the wheel plastic shield and tire and get a direct...

    Stripped head bolt hole

I was also wondering if the right angle drills would be of any help. Like the slower RPM used by electricians/plumbers for drilling holes between studs. They are high torque/low rpm. What kind of head bolts were you using? Did you clean the bolt holes? I took a few old head bolts and cut some...

    Gear ratio question

Says it's either 3.73 or 4.10. I didn't know they used those gears on the 2015-2020 trucks?

I want to convert the conventional steering to rack and pinion on an 01 GMC Yukon. Help please!

It would help to tell us why you are thinking about doing this. I don't know the answer or if it's even possible, but maybe someone here knows. The early GMT800 2wd trucks have rack and pinion, 4x4 got gearbox. I'm pretty sure it's related to coil spring vs torsion bars suspension differences...

    2001 Chevy Tahoe Wiring Harness

Cool. Hopefully you can source a nice clean harness. The engine/transmission harness actually does not go into the cab or cluster. There's like 3-4 connectors at the fuseblock for the engine/transmission harness (4x4 models have an extra connector the T-case) and the other main connection is at...

    2001 Chevy Tahoe Wiring Harness

Understand. Most (if not all) of the connectors can be bought and replaced. I made this post a few months ago: https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/how-to-re-loom-your-ecu-engine-transmission-wiring-harnesses.143808/ I've since removed the engine for a rebuild. I replaced the coolant...

TTY head bolts with engine in-vehicle

A final update. Been daily driving the 'ol burban again. Everything seems A-okay. The cam low end torque is very nice. I like it! :) I've since racked up a little over 600 miles; a mix of city and highway, moderate throttle with a few WOT pulls on the steepest grades around here (not many...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I'm a structural engineer and focus on existing buildings assessment, evaluations and repairs. This is a building they are renovating in Lubbock. A few months ago I looked at another building in Midland. Yes, everything out there is oil/gas. It's crazy business. My company has a separate...

01 Shutting off no crank, no start.

The way the VATS works is: engine cranks and fires, but the ECU will kill both injector pulse, spark and fuel pressure instantaneously. It basically and dies immediately. Agree: that doesn't sound like your symptoms... In your situation, you may have more than one issue going on...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Coming back home I realized the AC wasn't working on my 99 Silverado (DFW to Lubbock for job visit.) Got home and checked fuses and relay and everything was good. I decided to check the belt and it had snapped. Doh! When I parked at the hotel the night before I do remember I heard a weird...

1999 tahoe misfire on cylinder 8 after having new spider injector/pressure regulator replaced

You would probably have 2 misfire codes if injectors were reversed, I think. I mean, any new part can be faulty even before you open the box. Why don't you ask him to recheck the fuel pressure? If the new assembly is bad, the fuel pressure would drop I'm guessing? This is why mechanics don't...

Read this article: https://www.motortrend.com/news/chevy-1500hd-2001-2006-crew-cab-half-ton/ Nothing on these trucks are "half-ton." LQ4, 4L80e, 8 lug PYOs with LT tires, front torsion bar front suspension (both 2wd and 4x4), deep frame rails, 14 bolt rear axle with disc brakes, hydro boost...

    2001-2006 K2500 Ext/Crew Cab-6.0 Gas

Actually, I forgot to mention... 2007 Classic (or some people call them 2007.5) is still GMT800. If you are not going to be going to the maximum GVWR and want a crew cab, I would include the 1500HD in your search. Those had a GVWR of 8,600 lb vs 9,200 lb for the 2500HD. They are really the...

    2001-2006 K2500 Ext/Crew Cab-6.0 Gas

Umm...those (2500HDs) came out in 2001... 1999-2000 they only made 1500s and non-HD 2500 (still had 8 lugs tho & 4L80e.) Edit: obviously talking GMT800, if it's not apparent. Oh, then there's the 1500HDs (those were real 3/4 ton trucks, just GM marketing tricking consumers because those were...

#1 and #5 injectors not firing

You can try back probing the faulty injectors directly pulsing signal from the ECU (and 12V+ and grounds) from the battery directly, as appropriate (according to the wiring diagrams.) Probably something the wiring or ground would also be my guess...

    04 Z71 Should I tune it?

    1. Yeah, my thoughts too. Save the money for a transmission overhaul. You'll need one, if it hasn't already had at least once before. 2. Engine sounds good, but getting up there in miles. Maybe a valve stem seals is a good idea down the road? Run a compression test and leak-down test to see...

    Building A 1,000HP Capable 6R80/6L80 Trans

Umm...1,000 HP in a 3,300 to 3,400 lb car. I wonder what translates to when you install it in a 5,500 lb truck? Just wondering? I don't believe they co-designed them. It's a ZF design, which Ford and GM each adopted independently. Unfortunately, GM decided to value engineer some of their...

    Crank-No Start 99 Tahoe 4x4 5.7

Distributor is a possible culprit. I now see your fuel pressures: those look good. Still not sure what to make of that odd sound while cranking though...and the compression numbers do look a little low on those 2 cylinders, but not low enough where it wouldn't fire. Thanks for the update.
