Hi All,

I just made an account to ask this and see what you think. A rundown of what I did so far to the AC system is below:

1. Replace A/C Compressor (A/C ran well for a month then compressor seized).
2. Also replaced condenser, dryer/accumulator, and orifice tube all new OEM.
3. Now the burb is in the shop getting a brand new compressor put in.

Now: They just called and said they charged the system again and it ran cold for 15 minutes but hot again, and lost the freon I guess.
The mechanic wants 600-800 to replace the expansion valve which I bought for 20 bucks.

I do not use this truck for family trips so I am researching blocking the rear ac off entirely and am wondering if that would fix the issue with the leaking expansion valve.

Anyone that has any history or input please chime in, I am tired of shelling money out on the A/C in 110+ heat in AZ when I know the engine will need the money soon.

Thanks,

did they dye the freon to actually go over the whole system to check for leaks with a UV light? that should have been one of the first things to do. Mine was over filled once and ran cold then warm.
