Largest 17" tires without a Life

I have 275 60 R20 Goodyear Wranglers on 20" sierra rims. Stock suspension. There is light rubbing while backing up on a hard turn. I think the rubbing is mostly my mudflaps. I could take them off but I like the extra protection.

Reliability; Denali XL RWD vs. Escalade ESV RWD

I can say, here in WI, I haven't seen any trucks, let alone Yukons or Eskys for less than $10k that are worth anything and all of them are higher miles. Saw a '15 Esky for $17k with 135k miles. Still a hard pill to swallow. I would also agree with the "devil you know" theory. That is the main...

Thoughts on purchasing a higher-mileage Duramax?

After reading this, I'm a little hesitant. As a lot of people, I can't just buy anything, I have to scrimp and save for a long while. If I were to even be able to afford one of these, a 5 or 7k repair would devastate me. I've been looking at used trucks with the 3.0 since I have a buddy who just...

    2012 Suburban Misfire #5 drama

I just skimmed over some of your post, just awesome. Thanks for the info. I will be referring to it several times I'm sure.

    2012 Suburban Misfire #5 drama

I'm a pretty capable mechanic. What would you say your parts cost and how much time did you have into it? Also, did you get your computer reflashed? I bought a truck from a guy many years ago, and he did these and said he reflashed the computer to delete the AFM stuff after installing the parts.

New to me project 13 Yukon XL Denali

Looks like it did a nice job. I have a seat... someone... spilled coffee on and need to be cleaned.

What machine/soap did you use to clean the carpet?

SOLVED! Chinese Android radio Awesafe and able to keep rear entertainment screen

I've been somewhat interested in this mostly for carplay and navigation features but seems like a crap shoot to get it to work unless you have electrical experience. Would be nice for a plug and play option.

    Burning oil

I agree with the stock air filter, plenty good for everyday driving. One thing I didn't see is the AFM issues. If it were me, I would disable the AFM to try to prevent any issues down the line. Very easy to do. Amazon sells modules you can plug into the OBD port. I have a 2008 with 210k miles...

    Rear Side Window Flag Decal

I have a 2008 Yukon XL. I saw a picture of a rear side window flag decal that looked cool. I searched Ebay and Amazon and can't find anything. I also looked here. Maybe I's searching for the wrong thing? Any ideas?

    2009 Yukon Replacement Headlight Housings

What are those headlights in your thumbnail picture? I like those. I see a bunch of cheapies out there. Hate to waste money.

    6.2 or Diesel?

I get your point but I'm probably more OK with a $3k tranny job than a $3k belt change. Either way, I do think it's a good engine.

CB Radio Install - Yes some still find them useful

I've been wanting to add a CB but couldn't figure out where to put that big thing. This looks like a good idea. What's the plan to route the antenna wire? Would you just have it in the jam of the door? Just thinking about this, I have a 12v outlet by the rear door. I could put the main unit...

    6.2 or Diesel?

Even at 200k, it's a pretty big bill to change a belt. It would be one thing if the average guy could do it but to pull the tranny, it's out of reach for most guys.

    6.2 or Diesel?

I really like the idea of the 3.0. I have heard it gets great driving mileage, and it does well pulling. The only thing I can't wrap my arms around is the oil pump belt that runs in oil. Just don't get that and it's a $3000 repair to replace it (have to pull the tranny) albeit after 150k miles...

    Cold Engine Noise

Interesting. It is just under 3000 now, due to be changed. I'll have to see if that helps. I can say, my oil pressure is really good. 30-40 at idle.

    Cold Engine Noise

I am familiar with the exhaust sound, this is not it. I replaced my driver side manifold already. The other one has a broken bolt, but it is not making noise yet. The piston slap theory makes sense.

New-to-Me '21 Yukon XL - Maintenance and Mod and questions

I bought a generic AFM disabler from amazon for $59 bucks, it has worked flawlessly for years. I had the Range unit on one of my trucks and would stop working every so often, so I had to unplug and re-plug again to reset. Either way, it's a great idea. Little to no MPG difference.

    6.2 or Diesel?

I too have had many older (2000-2006) 5.3 with 300k+ miles. No engine issues (just transmission). Now in my 2008 Yukon I have this AFM crap to deal with. It does seem the more they try to make them "efficient", the less reliable they become. That said, if you look for the bad, you will surely...

    Cold Engine Noise

Ok, thanks. I've had trouble in the past trying to post stuff, but I'll try again. I'll get some video this weekend during the day. Too dark before work. Still trying to adjust to this time change. It's getting the best of me this year.

    Cold Engine Noise

I have a 2008 Yukon XL with a 5.3L. It currently has 210k miles. I have had it since 190k and have the afm disabled. In the morning when the engine is cold, it almost sounds like a really quiet diesel engine. Just a slight lifter noise? I cant say when it started. Heck it's probably been doing...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect experiment

I used to be a field service guy and drove a service truck a lot, so I filled up my tank many times a week. Most had v-8 engines of all makes. I experimented with using E85. Usually... because the mileage with E85 was less, my rule of thumb was the E85 had to be at least 50 cents a gallon less...

    2007 yukon denali oil leak

It's funny how my Yukon was leaking, then mysteriously stopped... I give... When it leaks it's really just drips not puddles so I'll probably live with it. If I park it for extended times, I just put cardboard under it. It's a 2008, can't expect perfection at this point. It runs good and it's...

    2007 yukon denali oil leak

Is this on all engine versions? I have a 5.3. I have had a mystery oil leak for a long time. Mosly just irritating since I cant find it. I did have valve covers leaking a bit which was some of it and the block off plate too.
