CEL came on yesterday, 2006 ODB trouble codes

NY wife's 4 runner kept coming up with cel and evap codes. I took the gas cap off, and flipped the rubber o ring inside the gas cap inside out and also cleaned the lip on the gas tank fill tube. Been 4 months and no more codes. Might try it.

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

A followup to the followup..the aftermarket sensor lasted about 2 days, then the ABS light and Stabilitrak/Traction Control lights came back on...I ordered and installed a Genuine GM sensor about 2 weeks ago, and now, close to 1000 miles later, all is good... My .02, go with the Genuine GM Speed...

DTC C0045-00 Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor

Someone with more knowledge will give a more definitive answer, but it is my understanding that these are a common maintenance item. Having said that, I just replaced my right rear sensor with a knock off from Ebay. It lasted about 2 days with minimal miles before throwing a Speed sensor not...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

I wanted to post a followup just in case it would help someone, or anyone was curious. The parts finally arrived and last night I was able to work on my truck. I installed the wheel sensor (after market $13) and the spare tire hoist (why isn't everything as easy to replace as the spare tire...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

I did remove the sensor before i removed everything else, I might have damaged it or something upon removal or reinstall. I have a new one ordered, it'll be delivered April 14th ish. I'll report back after installed and test driven. Thanks guys!

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

It was the passenger side tone ring, bearing, seal I replaced.

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

That aligns with what the internet search is telling me as well! Fingers crossed ! I'm going to try one of the cheap ones off ebay with a 1 year warranty. Thoughts on that ? Thanks for your reply! I used the specialty tool that seats it the correct depth.

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Had to go to a couple different auto parts stores to find a reader that'll read abs codes. It came up with C0561-71 and C0050-5A, which is the rear passenger side wheel sensor I assume? I'm assuming the cheap ones on Ebay will suffice? They wanted $93 at Autozone for one. Yikes ! Again -...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Wanted to do a followup to my experience. Everything is back together, and the drone coming from my rear is gone! Yay! A couple things I learned and wanted to share. The first is - there are some very knowledgeable and generous people on this site - Thanks to all of you for sharing and a...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

My Timken seals and bearings arrived today. The bearings however are stamped Koyo. Should I be concerned? Doing a brief search it looks like Koyo are good bearings, but it surprised me. The bearings came in a Timken box...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

So, before I try this on my own - what are some "look out fors and gotchas"? I assume many of you have replaced wheel bearings on your Tahoe's and could offer some tips for me?

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

I've considered buying and selling it after, but sounds like it might be tough to sell since folks are finding other ways to get this done. Not sure....I'm probably going with a press at this stage...like everyone else does it seems...going to need some luck on this one....I have a few days...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

That's what I'm finding, no local parts stores have one for rent, and most of the shops I've called don't have the specialty tool, they just wing it, telling me they just kinda know where it goes....... I guess I'm ok with the tone ring being off 1/8" or so as long as the speed sensor isn't...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Ok, I may have a go at it. Those some specialty tools are expensive! I may call around to the mobile mechanics in town. I hate to do that as it takes away from the satisfaction of DIY, but I don't want to seat at the wrong depth for the bearing. After this, I may stick to fluids and...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

That's good info, apprec that. But, it does make it harder..... I have measured the depth the tone ring needs to go in. Will I damage it using anything but the specialty tool or anyone know of any shop that rents these special tools? I didn't measure the bearing depth, so that will be an issue...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

I had such fun on the pass side, I'm not sure I have the heart for the driver side....but we'll see. The pass side bearing looked to be in great shape. I know that doesn't mean the drivers side is, but...Truck has 175k on it, very little towing...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Not sure what happened or went on with it. I had a hum, figured it was wheel bearings. When I spun the pass tire, I heard click, click, click and assumed it was that side. Looking at how it's constructed and where it sits, I can't imagine I yanked part of it out with the bearing and seal, but...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Yep, that's the part number the Chevy dealer gave me. Looking at some other posts it appears this tone ring failure is not all that uncommon. I'm trying to figure out a way to get the remaining parts of the tone ring out. The cylinder with the splines has separated from the larger part (and...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Mystery solved - the plastic ring is part of the ABS wheel speed sensor tone ring GM 1528-6385. It appears it has separated and the plastic ring came out with the seal and bearings. I assume I can replace the tone ring by removing the parking brake, dust cover, etc? TIA

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Then I must have misplaced the wheel bearing puller flange too far into the housing and pulled it out with the bearing and seal? Does that sound possible? Any idea what the cylinder piece is next in the housing? That cylinder just flops around in there, did I break that too? Wish I could find a...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

The ABS sensor ring is past the lip the bearing seats against? I can't find a diagram anywhere identifying it. Will keep looking, Thx.

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Is the pic on the left a spacer of some type? It came out with the seal and bearing. Next question, the cylinder just inside the bearing lip - is it supposed to just flop around like it is? TIA

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

Got it off. Saw another video where a guy gently pried the axle out, and sure enough, it worked for me - Got the seal and bearing off, the seal was bad, but the bearing looking ok. I'll still replace it since I'm this far...But it looks like the next 2 pieces in might be bad....don't know what...

Uh Ohh... Rear wheel bearings replacement

I haven't tried the other side, the passenger side was the only side leaking and I hadn't decided to do both sides yet. I did wiggle and push it back in the 1/4' or so that it came out...I also just tried to put the pin back in the differential and it'll only go 1 3/4" back in.....I was afraid...
