not lift, but stretch; any options?

I have an ask to build another tracked tahoe, but the client doesn't want the vehicle lifted (at all). If possible they would like the vehicle lowered but still clear the tracks. On a previous jeep xj I built for tracks I pushed the rear axle back via axle perches. The extension of the rear...

Pickup tube question on 2007 GMC Yukon Denali 6.2

Did you drop the pan or replace the o-ring via taking off the oil pump? If you did the o-ring without dropping the pan how difficult was it to get the bolt out of the pickup tube and then replace it?

ice trip; had some issues (oil pressure / charging)

I'm guessing that I have a pair of issues concerning the oil pressure: 1) low oil pressure of 25psi at idle 2) intermittent oil pressure drop which then comes back to normal I'm thinking I'll do the following: - manual gauge to verify dash is reasonable (I'll probably not see it drop low during...

ice trip; had some issues (oil pressure / charging)

The first battery was fully charged prior to the issue (as well as the swapped battery); additionally they were enough to start the engine. Not sure how bad batteries could start an engine then pull enough off the alternator to indicate below 9 volts then work normally (take a charge, indicate...

ice trip; had some issues (oil pressure / charging)

Service charging system message on dash, volt gauge on dash dropped to 12volt then continued to decline to 9volt (verified via multimeter), dash went dark then the engine quit. Swapped battery; voltage started at 12 then declined to 9 and quit. Used jump pack; engine restarted, voltage was...

ice trip; had some issues (oil pressure / charging)

2008 Tahoe LTZ, 217k on tracks; was up on Lake Winnipeg last weekend. I don't have a lot of time in this rig, bought the Tahoe and installed the lift / tracks right away, maybe 100 miles on it. First issue: Noticed that the oil pressure was staying about 25 psi. Seems to be a candidate for...

2021 Suburban LM2 reliability sob story

in my situation there wasn't an error code call corporate, tell them you have exhaust smell in the cabin, tell them you are worried about your passengers getting sick no one wants a safety issue on their hands; exhaust in the cabin is a big issue

Beware: GM Nightmare - Defective 2024 and 2022 Yukon Diesel

totally hear yah We have a ram baby diesel and a gm baby diesel; they both have enjoyed their respective dealer shops more than I'd prefer. (they are battling it out as to who has been in the shop the most, Ram is ahead at the moment but the denali has been gaining momentum) I do enjoy the...

    Buyers Remorse?

it is an absolute bummer to have issues when you buy a different vehicle; totally get it We've had a few denali's / slt's / escalades; across all of them I think I've done 1 water pump and 1 set of magnaride shocks and a pile of tires, never had flat spots occur tho. Wife's '21 denali has loud...

    Battery Replacement a Professional Job?!

The 'professional' part is having to remove a support brace to get the battery out. No special tools, no telling the computer it has a new battery, it's 1/2 a step more difficult then not having the brace in the way. If GM believes this is a 'professional' only operation; I can only imagine how...

will whomever was disagreeing with me in a different thread and was claiming how simple / reliable and not expensive the LM2 is please chime in and talk about how the above is simple / reliable / cheaper then a thermostat :)

    High Rpms in Park

What do you mean by 'started to overheat'? What temp did it get to? Did it push coolant? Does hvac heat work? A wild guess... it's low on coolant and behaving poorly. I believe the '21s have 5/100k powertrain on the diesels.

2021 Suburban LM2 reliability sob story

My wife's '21 had a leaking exhaust issue, their is a tsb for that. If you search for posts under my account one of them has a link to the tsb on that topic. "I think" it was specifically around a weld on the flange for the turbo.

Engine coolant level in surge tank ?

These systems don't consume coolant. Totally possible that it wasn't 'full' from the factory. But once the system has stabilized you shouldn't see any coolant reduction day over day. If the level is dropping it's because it's leaking.

dmax 3.0 and the cold (-30F)

The cold happens regardless of the hvac setting. IE, you can feel the cold hitting the back of the console. This isn't cold from the ac, it's outside air. A soda in the front cup holder will freeze when your driving down the interstate at -30F for example.

dmax 3.0 and the cold (-30F)

GM isn't recommending a grill cover or anything else beyond blocking or unblocking the vent within the console. It gets cold with or without a phone on the charger. No resolution yet; nor do I anticipate one to ever occur.

    Buying Used

Right now today, in the garage we have 3 6.2's and and 3 3.0's, across denali suv's and pickups. none of the 6.2's have had any warranty issues on the powertrains all of the 3.0's have had warranty issues (bad turbo, oil seals leaking, emissions issues, etc) for me, the 3.0's are absolutely...

    Buying Used

Based on my experience of owning multiple baby diesels (both eco & duramax), multiple large diesels (5.9, 6.7, ISM, ISX) and say 20 gas variants (bmw/ram/gm/jeep) These 3.0 diesels are the most problematic engines available today, 100% hands down. I've also had many air suspensions fail during...

A few questions on my 2024 Denali

Maybe on the first one or two; but after 'some number' the above doesn't happen anymore. I have so many more important things to worry about; vehicles are like number 10 in my list of concerns.

In what situations have you used 4L/4Low?

Backing up an incline with a 5k+ trailer; thats when I use 4L in the Denali. At one of our places the shed has a decent incline, 4L makes backing up way easier when loaded. Otherwise just regular auto or hi.

    Buying Used

The 21+ mechanical issues are similar to the AFM issues of a few years back. Basically a "pick your poison" type of deal. If you wanted to minimize your exposure to high repair costs I'd recommend the following: - fewer options, fewer problems (get a Tahoe instead of an Escalade) - skip the...

A few questions on my 2024 Denali

Based on your phone choice, the wireless android auto / car play works rather well once setup. Beyond that I haven't really found anything super useful in the wife's denali.
