    --- Photos: SPOTTER'S THREAD (post up all years/models) ---

During our time, the Navy had a string of flight training bases, strung along the Gulf Coast, from FL to TX. The Lexington cruised back and forth, parking off each of these bases, so the student pilots could carrier qualify. I wanted to go, as part of the maintenance teams, but it never...

I'm not gonna guarantee the accuracy, but I think it breaks down like this [if I get it wrong, someone can come teach us both]... 6- number of forward gears L- longitudinal installation 80- sturdiness of transmission E- electronic control joe

I think they're losing their "purity" too. They now partner with sellers, for kickbacks; and Subaru is using their name in TV ads. They used to not allow their name to be used. They were "A Leading Consumer Magazine". joe

    Motor Trend large suv comparison

Yeah, 'Motor Week' seems aimed at people who don't know cars. 'Consumer Reports' is about as bad. It's treated cars like appliances since long before it started being true. I remember them criticizing Corvettes, and cars like them, for being tight and stiffly sprung. joe

Isn't the Ford a brand-new design? How old is the GM design? Just wondering. I've kinda gotten the impression, over the years, that the car magazines take turns between brands in their 'best of...' comparisons. It has seemed like the newest design usually wins, which kinda figures, I guess. joe

Neither do the laws of diminishing returns, big fella; nor the influences of which points on the ruler you're measuring to and from. And I didn't disagree. I just pointed out that there are shades/variables involved. joe

A big reason for the noise reduction is federal noise regs. I'd guess it's also a big driver of the 'funky' OEM design. joe

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

So who makes the Genuine GM fuel pump?

'Made in China' is not necessarily the key point. What really matter are the manufacturing specifications of the parts contract; and how strictly the buyer enforces compliance. joe
