    2003 EXT Audio Issue

2003 EXT with Bose and On-star, and a after market radio. Radio was installed in 2018 and worked fine until last month. Radio energizes, but is mute until the truck is put in Park and the engine off. All fuses recently checked good. I do have a hot wire from the battery I could hook it to...

Anybody in the north treat for rust?

Bought my 03 Escalade in Vegas, and brought it up here to Western, PA two years ago. First act was to have a good coating of Fluid Film. No rust issues yet, but there are a few side effects to bare in mind. You will get a slight smell from it burning off the exhaust; brakes will fade slightly...

    Alternator question

I also had to do the alternator swap. I ordered a 145amp on Amazon, plus the required expanded size belt. Buick dealer installed it in my Escalade with no problem. My radios indicate 14.7 instead of 13.8 on start up.

Buying my first Tahoe PPV - Need Advice Please!

Take the test drive with all radios off and listen as you drive. Go over bumps a few bumps, and put it in a tight turn in a vacant parking lot both in front wheel and four wheel drive. It is worth it to have a third party mechanic look at the truck/SUV. One thing my mentor taught me was to...

    Installing Amateur Radio

I have the 03 Escalade EXT, and would like to install my Yaesu transceiver in the cab. I was tempted to remove the six disc CD player, but that would create a lot of problems. I am tempted to mount it in the ceiling, but do not know if the ceiling would support the radio, but I then have to be...

    at home engine replacement

I have done more than my share of engine rebuilds and replacements. Do not forget to analyze the cost of the high miler and engine. Include the cost of new belts, fluids, and grease. If it is a short block, consider the cost of your running gear such as starter, alternator, power steering...

    Wire stripper shopping

Greenlee markets a stripper that looks like the second set. Home Depot usually has them for a fair price. Klein is the best of the three. Most respectfully Michael

Yellowish condensation under oil cap + low coolant warning

The simple thing to do is have your mech put a Stantz coolant pressure tester on you rig. You will know almost instantly if the issue is a blown head gasket or a cracked block/head. While they are at it, they can also give you radiator cap a quick check. Most respectfully Michael

    must have tools

What to carry for spare parts and tools can drive a person crazy. It will depend on how well you keep your preventive maintenance up, how old your vehicle is, and your talents to use tools. Are the tools meant for road side repairs? So much for the double talk. Most important is a good...

    Neutralizing road salt any suggestions

We have two types of rust protection available in our area of Western PA; an oil based film, and a gel. The oil is an annual application that cost $115.00 plus tax to have applied, and the gel starts close to $200. Obviously the gel should last longer. A few shops will retreat your gel...

    Upgrade Audio for Escalade EXT

This used Escalade is the first Cadillac in my family in over 60 years. I love all the features about it, but I have a stock radio that does CD's and tapes. The CAD also has a six disk player in the console. Question: What do I look fore in a replacement radio that will still give me DIC and...

Is this what a bad timing chain looks like?

There is a reason to change gears, they wear as the chain stretches. Every other time I would change a chain on my motorcycle, I would also change the sprockets. Same principal. I know it is not the nicest thing to hear, but I speak from experience with timing chains: Don't skimp. The money...

    Dealership cancelled my purchase.

That is how I purchased my used Escallade EXT. Found it on Craigs List in Las Vegas, NV and drove it back to Western Pennsylvania. (Perhaps I should go in business to do this.)

    New to forum Escalade Owner

Two months ago I left the rust belt to purchase my 2003 Escalade EXT. Now that I am back in Western Pennsylvania I have a lot of questions about the truck, and no owners manual. Things like how much oil does it require for an oil change, what grade of fuel to burn, etc., etc.. I donated my...
