LED tail lights with resistor, CC inop

Had the same problem with my 2003 Tahoe. It's the aftermarket lights. The LEDs do not have enough, for lack of a better term, resistance in the bulb themselves. So, the car senses that you have the brakes on. Hence no CC. You can buy an online resistor for the wiring and it solves the problem...

Can I just swap stock bulbs for LED?

Yes as far as know they are a straight up replacement. I have them in my Explorer Express, but I'm swaping them out for HIDs. I've used both and the HIDs are way better though more complicated to install. Prices now a days is not that much different. HIDs used to be expensive, but they come way...

    Upgrading Headlights and Fog/Running Lights

Having used both LED and HID's I can tell you the HIDs are way better. I'm 72 and have been installing them in my vehicles since the early 2000's (Sierra, Tahoe, 4Runner, Express). They were expensive back then, but they've come down in price. I just bought a set of high and lows for my 2010...

Anyone replaced their unused spare tire due to age?

Yes. At 50K I bought 5 new tires for my Express AWD van. The spare was original so it was 13 years old (I'm retired and don't drive much). The other tires had 35K on them. They still had decent tread, but one was having issues holding air and they were all again 11 years old. I think tires can...

    New member 2003 Tahoe

I thought my 2010 Express AWD Explorer with 52K was impressive. A 2003 with 55k. If that's legit that a hell of a deal. Welcome to the forum.

Battery drain on a 99 Tahoe

You said you're using a battery tender. Know this sounds weird, but it's happened to me twice. I had a battery tender on my 97 Tahoe and the battery went totally dead. Bought a new battery. Put the tender on my 2010 Express. It killed it in 2 days. I was able to recharge it with a different...

Possibly future 2003 Tahoe owner... not sure yet

I owned a 2003. Beautiful vehicle, but was a nightmare. The main isue was the brakes. They would just go to the floor at random times and you'd have to pump fast to keep from having an accident. A lot of NHTSA complaints on the issue. Chevy refused to fix it. But they did sell me a new 2004 for...

    Dead in the water

As soon as it warms up again I'm going to be doing some investigating. My project for today is replacing a rear speed sensor in the warmth of my garage.

That was kind of next step. I'm hoping ground since that would be the easiest to deal with. Thanks.

We have a goodly number of tree rats around here that chew up everything they can get their little teeth on. I'll check that? Thanks.

    Dead in the water

I own a 1997, 5.7, 4x4, automatic, 2DR Tahoe that I bought about 7 years ago. It's mostly just a retirement project though I do drive it around town and in the winter time. I've put way more into it than I'd ever get back if sold, but that was never the point. I always wanted one and I have had...

What's Everyone's Favorite Tire Choice for their Tahoe?

Nitto Terra Grapplers and NTG 2's. I've had both of them on two different vehicles and loved them. Great off road, in snow and rain and not loud on the highway. I've got 40K on my Express Van's NTG2 and they still have a lot of tread left. The original NTG were great on my 2004 Z71.

Tried to replace steering shaft bearing '97 Tahoe...wtf is this?

That's the steering wheel sensor. I replaced mine on my 97 to tighten up the steering response. It worked wonders.

    GMT900, Anyone overlanding/offroading these?

Had a 2004 Z71 back a few years ago. Totally stock except for 20' Nitto Terra Grapplers. Did light off Roaring on the Mason Tract in Northern Micigan and NFS in TN and NC also chasing trout. Had no problems. It me got in and got me out, wet, dry or white. And was comfy on the highway during the...

    HELP!! Which wheels look better??

I like the first ones the best. But I wouldn't go that large. Maybe 20's max. But ultimately it's what you like the best.

A large Jeep. Too narrow for a full size GM product. Don't know which model, but the thin C pillar, square shape and high license plate scream Jeep to me.

Gibson exhaust update/ review 04 Yukon Denali xl

I've used Gibson on four vehicles; 97 Tahoe, 04 Astro, 03 & 04 Tahoe, liked them all. Nice masculine sound, minimal drone, won't wake the neighbors under normal load, but sounds like it means business under power. Deep burble at idle. Sounds like a V8 should. Nice contrast to the three golf...

    The unwanted Hoe

I can relate to both. My wife has a 2007 4R LTD that she wouldn't give up for anything. I had a beautiful 2003 Tahoe Z that a was rolling pile of dog poop. Forced Chevy to replace under the State's lemon law. Got a 2004 Tahoe Z in exchange. It wasn't as pretty, but waa built like a tank. Never...
