I went ahead and got the aluminum radiator but wish I didn't. Been fussing with it for a few years now but it seems to be stable for the moment. Problem is in the winter it takes forever to warm up and in the summer it can run hot. I'm looking for any excuse to go back to the OEM radiator...
This guy shows how he swapped Escalade seats to the Tahoe harness. Pretty simple. There's another video explaining similar. If I find it I will post it as well.
I've always liked the cargo area in my 2011. The back seats flip up and give even more space. I have a third row set from an Escalade which will hold three adults. So plenty of room in pretty much all situations. If I need more room I simply trailer up.
I saw a new Tahoe in traffic today. It looked as if there was no cargo area in back. The distance from the rear door to the tailgate was really short compared to my 2011. Why even bother if you can only get some groceries in back. Cargo area is important, to me anyway.
K-Seal has bought me some time with my heater core. About a year ago I was smelling coolant inside. So I tried the K-Seal and it worked. It's not like the old Bars stop leak with the goopy tapioca pellets that clog things up. K-Seal is a ceramic based liquid that goes where it's needed. All...
I put mine on the drivers side mostly because of the shorter coax run. It's not that much shorter really but I don't see why it can't go on either side. Just personal preference. The fender is a better bet for a decent antenna though. Number one, you can get a fairly full sized dual band...
I guess you could call this a perk, for a while I was getting quite a few incidents when I would get to the drive up window at Starbucks they would tell me, "the person in front of you paid for your coffee". I get it, they were good hearted people doing a nice thing for what they thought was...
Looks like my 2011 SSV when I first bought it. First thing I did was get a smaller bumper, lost the spotlight and get a set of OEM wheels off Craigslist. Roadreadywheels dot Com is also a good affordable option for oem style rims.
Real seat belts are under the side pillar covers. You can...
Might as well revive this thread...
I was driving across town and the AC Engine Hot message came back, fan came on, temp gauge went flat. It's been a while since that happened so I did a search and saw where someone suggested to do a scan and clear the codes. I happened to have my scanner...
Here in Portlandia it dips into freezing overnight and 40's daytime. No moisture coming for a while. However, always cloudy with a chance of hippies though.
Check all the wires at the FI connector. I once had a broken wire at the connector that caused mayhem. It ran like crap and caused the trans to shift hard and over heat.
Hard to tell from the pic but if it's an NMO antenna mount you can get a rain cap for it on ebay or Amazon. Or, add an antenna. My SSV came with two NMO mounts up top. One I capped and the other I use with a stubby GMRS antenna. Ham antenna is on the front fender.
Congrats on the purchase! I have a 2011 SSV, also with the dash in perfect condition to this day. I've been expecting the worst but so far, so good.
Uhaul may be your best bet for the hitch installation. Search around here though as others have tackled the same issue with adding a hitch to...
This morning I got the "Engine hot/turned off AC" message and the fans were screaming. There was no overheating and no CEL. This happened to me a while back. Turned out it was a bad connector on the pig tail to the engine coolant temp sensor. I replaced it along with the sensor and it fixed...
My SSV just turned 210k. Original shocks. They are still working as intended. No bad tire wear, good stiff ride, good cornering, they're still keeping the tire contact patch solidly on the pavement. Believe me, I've been looking for an excuse to replace them but they just keep giving.
On mine the cables were left not connected and the actuator rods were missing. I got the rods at my chevy dealer. They were the same part number but one had to go in backwards and I had to bend it a bit. But easy peasy. Also, if you have no rear shoulder seat belt it's probably still rolled up...
