I have a 2004 Tahoe with a factory NAV radio out of a Hummer. The radio has been installed and working fine for 4+ years. Recently I had 3 quirky incidents with the radio. While driving along on a straight and (relatively) smooth road, the radio screen will flicker. (go blank, sound goes off...
OEM Heated Seats can be added. There are some how-to threads here on the forum for that. You'll need to find the seats, door panel/switches and a wiring harness that goes from the computer under the seat to a connector under the front kick panel.
As I said, I don't use the Nav but I believe you need the Nav disk in the player to use the Nav. Which mean's if you don't install a 6 cd changer, you can't play CD's when using the Nav. I had to buy an aftermarket unit to use the backup camera. (forget the brand off hand) Got it from ebay...
Don't forget that you will need the NAV CD as well. I installed a Nav HU from a hummer with no problems on my 2004. I don't use the Nav, I wanted the HU for a backup camera. cost me about $100 to get the HU unlocked.
In my 04 Tahoe, you just turn on the key without starting the vehicle and push the gas peddle to the floor 4-5 times to reset the oil change reminder. I can't be sure it works the same for yours.
I installed a nav radio from a hummer,
E\The PAC VCI-GM2 Video Camera Navigational Radio Interface for GM Navigation Radio Touch Screen device
and a camera from amazon.
Works great for me. I would not want to be without it.
Besides the seats and door panels there is a wire harness that runs from the kick panel to the driver's seat and then over to the passenger seat. Get the harness intact if you can. (don't ask lol). Check HERE for some more info. Omar was very helpful when I was working on mine.
I ran my video cable up the passenger side. It was simpler to work behind the glove box than running the cables under the steering column. I simply popped the covers along the rocker panels and rear hatch for the wires and slipped them under the edge of the rear A/C panel cover and carpet.
Omar,
This find was definitely a fluke. I haven't been to the yard for a couple of years since I was looking for parts for my 79 Silverado. I'm in York, Pa. I sold my take off seats and door panels in less than 24 hrs. Apparently these parts are hard to find so I really got lucky. That...
Addendum: you know the saying, 'no good deed goes unpunished' ... On my way home from work last night I was assaulted by kamikaze deer. 1/4 mile from home, straight road, open fields on both sides and no other traffic. Blasted beast nailed me in the rear driver's quarter panel just in front...
Ahhhhhhhh .. the sweet Warm feel of SUCCESS!!!!!
I guessed right about the seat module not communicating on the GMLAN. When I wired the harness, I had a brown/white wire that I was not sure about. Originally I thought it just grounded to the body then I traced it to an unused connector in...
Wellllll, I'm a 1/2 step closer I think. I'm starting to feel like a detective. Beat the bushes, pick up clues .. instead of 'who done it' it's 'how's it done'? (But I Digress)
First off, I found an old thread on a truck forum discussing adding heated memory seats. What I found...
So Omar, Care to offer some more help?
I made some phone calls over lunch today to the local dealers. The best response I could get was that they could try to enable the BCM but could not guarantee it would programmable. One dealer shop foreman said he has been in the biz for 30 years and...
That sounds like a real PITA. I might just forget the heated part and enjoy the power seats. lol
If I get a chance, I'll see if the BCM is still in the donor truck. It's options were almost identical to mine except for the seats, pedals and mirrors. Guess I can also check with the dealer to...
Omar,
Do you know if the heated seat option only shows on the computer if they are installed? I had the truck in for some an alignment and had the NAV radio VIN cleared. I had them look to see if they could enable the heated seats but the mechanic said he couldn't find anything. The seats...
