Correct the prior owner swapped the trans and didn’t bolt back this ground. Think it had intermittent weak ground sitting on the block but that ground was the one.

Measuring the power at the terminals when it goes into limp mode I do not detect a draw on power. It stays stable at 14.32v as measured at the battery terminals even going into limp mode.
I've been trying to figure what is drawing power so badly, but I can't seem to find it.
When I hit the AC or the headlights, it'll go into power saving mode but I do not know how to find what is drawing power - I used my multimeter on the battery and the battery volt does not drop when it goes...
Light switch - basically turning on the regular headlights will put the truck into limp mode. Turning on the high beams by the blinker switch immediately kills the vehicle.
I may go get it tested, but I pulled it out of my other 2005 Tahoe and it had been doing great.

I’ve tested the battery off and tested alternator (can’t remember exact values but holds 12.5 off and 14.5 running). Have not looked at voltage drop yet since I can’t seem to isolate which system is the problematic one (headlights or AC unit head)
Hi All - so the Tahoe I got now runs... kinda. (2003 Z71 with 184K miles)
What is happening:
Runs great and shifts great until... you turn on the AC, turn on the headlights at all. It goes into reduced power mode when you do those things.
If you hit the high beams then the thing shuts down...
Ended up solving it…. Kinda. I had ordered a new battery ground when I got the truck and figured what the heck, throw it on, and it started. Runs relatively decent.
The only problem now is when I turn on the AC it goes into reduced power mode. But I can work with that… over time.

I might go ahead and try to pull all the plugs but it’s almost like someone used a breaker bar to torque the plugs or something. Never seen anything like it myself.

Measured resistance from battery ground to engine, within spec. .3 at the alternator case and bracket.
I pulled the injectors and put them under fuel pressure to see if any were leaking but none leaking yet (was wondering perhaps if a leaky injector had filled a cylinder… does not appear so)...
I have scanned for some codes. It has two BCM codes, one for a power drain (B1480, B2615). I also have a code for P1518 throttle actuator circuit. (That was a new one last night). But neither of them would stop the starter from spinning.
I do have a wonder if a failed alternator would cause...

I have acquired a non-running 2003 Tahoe z71 with the 5.3. It is having some issues. I purchased it not running as a challenge to get running, and, after all of the easy things, I am stumped.

Not really. I was tearing my hair out but there was a slight bend that didn’t look right and a nick in the wire. I’m going to replace the whole pigtail eventually but it was that green reference wire.
Now to put the whole thing back together!
Ok, the answer is here. It’s running for the first time in probably year(s)
Answer-reference wire to the crank position sensor was broken a bit farther back. Picked in wire and she came to life.

Here are the code readouts and I possibly found a ground that a rodent chewed but only a bit. I can’t be that lucky. Doubt it made it through the wires but here are the pictures of the code and the wire.
