PULLING MY HAIR OVER A P0301 code!!

Post Mechanic Update: The #1 cylinder is dead because from what he saw through a scope is a massive saturation of oil. In his opinion, a piece of carbon broke away and damaged the piston rings for that cylinder, and when it’s in its upstroke, the vacuum caused by the piston moving up the...

PULLING MY HAIR OVER A P0301 code!!

I will be picking the truck up tonight and will clarify with the mechanic. If it's a collapsed AFM/DOD lifter I might try a 'hail Mary' I saw in a YouTube video. The mechanic mentioned #1 spark plug came out bathed in fuel. And "ridiculous" amounts of carbon buildup at #1 and that carbon is...

Took her to a mechanic and he just called. Cylinder #1 is dead. Now what?!?

PULLING MY HAIR OVER A P0301 code!!

I still have P0301 thrown BUT not getting an actual misfire on #1 per Real Time Live Monitoring. RTLM is showing a misfire on 2 and 5 which I cannot get rid of. I've changed the plugs and upgraded the plug wires to 10.5mm silicone. Placing a new coil at either position changed nothing. I've...

PULLING MY HAIR OVER A P0301 code!!

I went ahead and cut the other hose, that was perfectly fine because I decided to upgrade to the metal hardware. Go in, and never again.

I don't know. I haven't even looked yet. But thank you for the heads-up! I didn't know there were two possible configurations.

Also, where does this heater hose fitting go to?

PULLING MY HAIR OVER A P0301 code!!

I've decided as we're entering the Texas summer, I'll just bypass the heater core for the time being and continue chasing the misfires.

Okay, just went from bad to worse. I took her for a quick test drive and she started smoking just as I pulled back up my street. Popped the hood and found this. Is this a line that leads to the heater core?

Out of curiosity, is it bad to rev the engine while in P or N on these trucks?

I haven't changed them because the odds of multiple simultaneous injector failures is so low.

Another curiosity is that the OBD port is hot sometimes. Even with the truck off, I can sometimes connect to the OBD reader and the truck although, as it's off, there aren't any readings obviously. Unless I am truly losing my mind over this. The 8th digit is a 0

PULLING MY HAIR OVER A P0301 code!!

Update: Yesterday, the fuel gauge just randomly started working again so obviously there's a loose connection somewhere. Also, and this sounds REALLY dumb but, I JUST NOW actually looked at the gas cap. I hadn't noticed that fuel requirement and warning. I've just been pumping low grade...

PULLING MY HAIR OVER A P0301 code!!

Honestly, it's the matter that they are in a tougher place to get to and I'm limited in regards to time because I work on it after my wife had gotten home and it's cooled down and if there isn't any other family stuff to do. Plus, I messed up my ribs reaching #7 and it took a good four days to...

PULLING MY HAIR OVER A P0301 code!!

I'll need to be more cautious doing the valve cover. When I was reaching to get at #7, I lost my balance and essentially used the fender (where it meets the hood) to spread a pair of ribs apart. I'm STILL recovering from that.

Sigh... I was dreading having to take the cover off, but in reality, I will KNOW either way at that point. I'll at least remove the question mark in my head.

Okay, thank you, yes. I believe the noise is coming from the vent valve. If I had to say, the sound is like a slight suction leak, sort of... I have historical 'recorded' data. Is using Delco wires recommended? I know plugs can be pretty specific to an engine but wires?
