Mine didn't make any noise either. I did get bitten by the counterfiet injectors from Ebay. If you paid less than $60 each for yours, they're likely fake.
Have fun on the swap!
I managed to get 40,000 miles out of my last set of Eagle RS/A stock sized tires this time, so I was looking for something with more life in it. I picked up a set of BF Goodrich Elite Force T/As for under $200 each. The only thing that sucks about buying a cop specific sized tire is you get...
my 2010 had a strangely similar issue once, I'd circle back to that bundle of wires near the power steering pump. I've seen a few threads out there on the internet about those wires rubbing through and shorting, and the weird nature of this one feels very similar. Your P219A could also be...
I will combine some of my other threads here with the pics of the injector wiring, but I agree on the humor part. I started doing engine swaps as a side hustle at the auto hobby shops on whatever base I was assigned to. I was one of those hyper focused work until 3am if necessary types, always...
Thanks! I love forums as a whole. Its a knowlege base that never goes away, and they're a lot more concise than Youtube channels. Its not to knock Youtube, I use it a lot (and publish stuff on there), but you can't beat a good forum.
nothing ventured, I suppose, but there aren't any menus in the CReader that will do any of those functions. It will "program" the cluster, but its basically just a BCM refresh.
latest update. I have a "LAUNCH" Creader Elite for my BMW. It has bidirectional communications/ can program modules for my BMW. It has the option to add OEMs to it, so I researched. The GM module allows for overwriting Instrument clusters. Its $40/year, so I'm trying it.
I've been using ChatGPT 4.0 as a research tool as I did my swap, the nice thing is that it "remembers" things, so I was able to get it to make a summary, which I tweaked quite a bit.
2015 Chevy Tahoe Engine Swap – What Went Wrong & What I Learned
So, you’re thinking about swapping an engine...
If your oil pressure is good (unlikely someone would do a cam swap without replacing the oil pump), I'd look at crumbling wire looms or plastic "T" connections dry rotting from that much heat soak. Now that I've put a reman, non-AFM (deleted), engine in my truck, I would expect it to last...
more Grokiness:
does the cluster need to be programmed in the vehicle, or is that an external harness?
For your 2015 Tahoe PPV swapping to a 2018 PPV cluster, the programming typically needs to happen in the vehicle, not with an external harness. Here’s why and how it works with GM’s systems...
It makes perfect sense. I threw the issue into Grok this morning, and was amazed at how detailed and logical the response was, almost scarily so.
It suggested that I try plugging the cluster in and see if it powers up, and if the buttons work (turn the key on, but don't try to start the...
I talked to the local GM dealer, they're "willing to try" programming the used cluster for 2 hrs labor. They want the truck and cluster there at the same time "in case they need assistance from the GM tech center remotely. I'm admittedly ignorant of all of the stuff that they could encounter...
There's a menu in the idatalink screen that will tell you if the buttons are working, the radio isn't seeing any of them. I'm certain its because of the MOST BUS being absent. I'm not sure why WAMS didn't want to do it, all of the PPVS should be equipped basically the same, so its not like...
Is there a cluster repair shop you've used that I can send this 2018 cluster to for a vin reprogram? I'm assuming that by reprogramming the vin, it allows the mileage to be read from the BCM?
I've seen guys on Youtube plug in the updated clusters and the button functionality works (mileage...
It does, you can program each of the buttons to do custom outputs: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSMRR/iDatalink-Maestro-RR-Interface-Module.html
Apparently the Denali cluster (and the 18-up) clusters have the extra circuitry to make the radio controls work, you have to run a circuit from...
This is a pretty deep and overly complicated question, but I'm hoping someone here has real world experience that they can share.
My 2015 PPV came with no radio controls on the steering wheel. In my research, I've found that all 2018- newer Tahoes came with the wide/ color cluster standard...
Mine didn't have the factory one, the upfitters installed one along with everything else. I think there is a plug in module that will put the BCM into "light test" mode, which will turn your Tahoe into something out of close encounters, but I don't have any experience with those.
