Looking for suggestions on a thread sealer/locker that would be heat and fuel resistant and seal against bolt thread vacuum leaks in an intake system.
I am dealing with a steel bolt in an aluminum manifold in an air cooled engine, so it gets hot. Through the years the bolt has worked the...
Wow, I've never seen plugs looking like that.
Mine were worn but normal looking when changed but that was a while ago. Worth another peek.
Planning on starting with the valve cover first and see if the condition improves.
It would be interesting to see catch can writeup.
I only find the Shell at NAPA now and they have to search the area and ship a bottle from here and another from there and so on. I presume the the end is coming.
Another alternative that popped up recently is Phillips 66 Shield Valor. I wonder if that is related to AC Delco Dexos oil as I read...
I recently tried one change using Shell Rotella Gas Truck 5w30. I used about a quart in 4000 miles. A good point is that the oil on the dipstick looks like new. I have enough of the oil to give it another change but haven't ruled out trying another oil looking forward because finding the Gas...
Owned since new and all stock and all service is documented.
Regarding the undated replacement valve cover. How does the revised baffle affect oil consumption?
What is the purpose and the "why" of the oil catch can? Is the intention to collect oil before it gets to the valve cover? If that is...
Seeing a quart of motor oil needed about 3000 miles after recent changes using 5w30 in 130,000 mile 5.3 Tahoe.
Is that a normal amount?
I don't see leaks or smoke from the exhaust.
I've been trying different oils lately but so far the two latest are showing the same condition. Perhaps it's just...
I've replaced mine twice, once aftermarket and once oem. Both times the lift gate needs help past half way.
Perhaps it has something to do with wear or stiction in the hinges.
In all my vehicle experience, which is way more years than I want to acknowledge, I have had nothing but unsatisfactory performance with Interstate.
I'd pick Wally World batteries over them.
We have both the LTXs and the Terrain Contact H/Ts on our vehicles. The Terrain Contact H/Ts were chosen due to size availability but in comparison I think they are very close. Only waiting for snow to test that aspect of the H/Ts but in the other seasons they are very similar in sound and...
Just leaving our '08 rear hatch open overnight b y mistake killed our Tahoe battery. Same with the dome light on our Subaru.
It's amazing that with all the technology being designed in that manufacturers don't make the electric controls intervene before something as small as a light bulb kills...
Have used mostly Michelin Defender LTX on two Tahoes and love everything except the price. I made a mistake in getting talked into Cooper similars once and scrapped them at half life. There was no comparison.
The Michelins ride compfy, are very quiet and work in the snow, not to mention that...
I was treated well my a trade union when I was young and I greatly appreciated a 36 hour work week, but we got paid for the hours worked and not a "gimme". Time off is a benefit in it's great asset without being paid to have it. Where is the pride in working?
I am wondering if some of the leak experiences might be related to reusing the old cover that might have some deformation with a new thin gasket. I can imagine that the cover might get out of wack if attempts are made to retighten bolts.
I haven't bought a new truck in over 15 years but when I read here the prices that some are quoting it seems that something is very wrong.
Perhaps the workers earn too much money, perhaps the company makes too much profit, perhaps both.
But without the vehicle buyers who support the upward...
2008 Z71, about 110,000 miles:
Have a recent new front suspension clunk when backing with the wheels turned, most generally on first cold start.
It's mostly usually on the driver's side but on rare occasion on the other side instead. Not both at once.
It generally doesn't happen after driving a...
The rebuild shop used rtv and it leaked in 2 months. Trying to snug it a bit made it worse.
I installed an oem (dry) that only cost about $11 bucks and no problems since.
So far on our truck, the factory generally got it right.
