Can it be fixed or is going with reman the better choice

If you plan on keeping it for several years, just put a GM trans in at the dealership. 3 yr, / 100k nationwide warranty. No brainer in my book.

    Anyone here off-road their Yukon?

The Denali is just fine for normal wheeling. I've overlanded my 2008 in NM, CO, WY, UT, and WI. I will say having a low range would be nice for some mountains I went up, and down, but overall they are plenty capable. Tires aired down with the air suspension makes for a good ride. It would be...

    2007 Yukon 6.2 stalls/won’t start when hot

You don't need a lift for the valley cover o-rings. The intake manifold is the dry type, no coolant in/around it. I only mentioned because I had issues in the past and that was the solution. My 2007 came from OK where there are hotter summers than here in WI and around 200k I was getting...

    2007 Yukon 6.2 stalls/won’t start when hot

I agree with @donjetman and @SpareParts . There was no screen for these trucks without AFM. At 156K, your oil pump is fine, they will last well over 200k with normal oil change intervals (I have a friend with a 2013 Denali with 276k, motor all original). I will say this though for lower...

    2007 Yukon 6.2 stalls/won’t start when hot

Here's an interesting video for the same type of running condition. I pulled the purge valve off mine and cycled it with 12v and it works fine. I tried heating it up with a heat gun to simulate a hot engine bay without any definitive failure. But, its not to say that engine vibration with a...

Using thicker oil in 2022 Tahoe 5.3L Engine

Here in America it's not a few, it's many, many thousands of them. A quick look on sales boards all around TX, OK, GA, FL, etc will show trucks that didn't have the ability to rust out and have racked up enormous amounts of miles as daily drivers. I've watched this for years and it is not...

Using thicker oil in 2022 Tahoe 5.3L Engine

My reply would be that you're correct that many, many engines have been produced and run this oil. However, you are part of a forum where people appreciate their rigs and want to do what's best for longevity and eliminate potential costly repairs due to ignorant govt influence. The basic facts...

New oil change price at dealer!

I have a hand pump that goes in the 2 inch bung, and the vent bung is only cracked for ventilation when pumping. I change oil on 4 to 5 vehicles, so a drum doesn't stick around longer than 2 years depending on who's driving where. I don't really see additives breaking down when exposed to air...

New oil change price at dealer!

Years. Oil doesn't go bad just sitting around. If it was going hot-cold-hot-cold then I could see some moisture possibly accumulating at the bottom. I've never worried about oil in a sealed container. I found 70 year old oil in my grandfather's old work shop. It still looked as good as day...

New oil change price at dealer!

You gotta buy in bulk. My oil change costs me about $34 with a 55 gallon drum of 5w-30 and buying GM filters in 12 packs.

Using thicker oil in 2022 Tahoe 5.3L Engine

AMEN! Many valid points, especially the direct injected oil dilution. I remember when the 3.6L DI motors came out. An oil change on one of them smelled like somebody dumped a cup of gasoline in the crankcase. That oil couldn't wait to get out of there once the plug was dropped. Just run it...

Using thicker oil in 2022 Tahoe 5.3L Engine

Another interesting tidbit to add fuel to the fire about CAFE garbage (across all makes): I bought a 2025 malibu as an extra car for the family in case we need something if one of the yukons goes down, or a kids car messes up. It has a 1.5L turbo motor that specifies 0w-20. In prior years of...

Question about rim sizes and compatibility

I'm sure they'll fit. They use the same as rhe trucks. If work trucks came with 15 inch, then they should fit a tahoe/yukon

    Transmission or TCM Dead?

I've been thinking of a Ford pickup with a gas motor as well. I had the diesel and the 6.2L in work trucks and all I can say is the 6.2L is an animal of an engine.....and it eats Ike one too for most driving conditions. My friend has a couple of the 7.3L gas motors and can't say enough good...

    2007 Yukon 6.2 stalls/won’t start when hot

Thanks for the update! Well your story coincides with 2 of 3 failures with mine. 2 were after a sharp turn and/or bump combo after steady driving. I'm still in Puerto Rico and then Jamaica for another week for work, but I plan to work the old girl when I get home and see if I can replicate it...

    Transmission or TCM Dead?

Edit: This is now a piece in my Murphy Kit that goes with me on long trips. Fortunately with a working parking brake, it's not the end of the world (traveling alone), but its still a PITA that a guy (me) doesn't want to deal with again.....

    2007 Yukon 6.2 stalls/won’t start when hot

Interesting! Good to hear. I also had the crankshaft sensor code, luckily it's an easy fix. The fuel pump relay is one I wouldn't have suspected, but another avenue to check when I get back home. Keep the updates coming! I'll do the same as time allows.

    2025 Tahoe RST crooked tailpipes

It's frustrating how these giant corporations will gladly take your money and then shit on you once it's in their grimy little hands. I've been a GM guy my whole life, but I can honestly say that 2020 will probably be the last year of SUV I buy if I continue with full size vehicles. Its...

    2007 Yukon 6.2 stalls/won’t start when hot

You can get the autoride simulators off ebay or Amazon. They're probably $100 for a set of 4. Plug them into the autoride connectors that used to go to the shocks and struts - no more light because the system is satisfied with the correct resistance it's looking for.

    2007 Yukon 6.2 stalls/won’t start when hot

Thank you for those! The oil consumption one doesn't affect mine, it doesn't use much (if any) in about 5k of normal driving. The throttle body one was interesting - it's never been done as far as I know. I plan on watching commanded vs. actual throttle position when I get home and do my...

    Transmission or TCM Dead?

I had the same thing happen. It was a $5 grommet on the shift cable that dry rotted and fell out on a bumpy back road.....out west as well, go figure. I almost threw the shift lever through the dash when I went to put it in park due to no resistance on the cable! Time to investigate for sure...

    Help with AC

What @OR VietVet stated is correct on how the system works. The newest freon can escape from a gnat's ass......so correct readings will be needed to diagnose further. The fact that the compressor is running is a good sign. When it's commanded to full cold, does the accumulator under the...

Cargo slide for the Yukon DEnali 2014

I've thought about the same thing. If the length works, then I'd pull out the rear carpet and set it in. Mark the mounting holes with a marker and see where they land (inspect below the floor panels for wiring, etc). If it's all clear, get some of the nut-zerts you put into a drilled hole and...

    2007 Yukon 6.2 stalls/won’t start when hot

I've found this thread interesting as my 2008 Denali has recently started being a PITA for me as well. It happened once in June after the A/C was on in hot weather, pulled off the freeway and turned into the park and ride. Engine almost stalled - dropped ro 300 rpm (kinda galloping) like it...

    Rim size ride differeence

And it depends what tire pressure you generally run. I had 22 inch wheels on my 2017 and they were OK with new tires, but slowly sucked more and more. Ditched them for a nice set of 18 inch wheels. I have 18 and 20 for my 2008 and it all comes down to purpose and pressure.
