VERY likely oil shortages on the horizon: stock up now! (Availability & deal thread)

So... much [most?] "synthetic" oil is still actually just highly processed natural petroleum, even stuff marketed as "full synthetic". Correct? Thanks again to y'all who answered. I had thought the boundary between them was much sharper. joe

VERY likely oil shortages on the horizon: stock up now! (Availability & deal thread)

I don't see where this says a conversion into synthetic took place, so it still doesn't answer the question for me. I appreciate y'all answering, but a simple explanation, without technical lingo, would be a lot more helpful. joe

VERY likely oil shortages on the horizon: stock up now! (Availability & deal thread)

This is interesting, but I don't really care. My question is 'how does a squeezed supply of dino-oil create shortages of synthetic oil?' I'm assuming that synthetics are either all, or nearly all [in blends], synthetic. joe

    Air Suspension v. Longer Wheelbase

I've had 2 two-doors ['87 Blazer, '95 Tahoe] and 2 short four-doors ['01 Tahoe, '07 Escalade]. The two-doors turned-in just slightly quicker, and rode just a bit choppier. None of the differences would, or did, influence my choice. They've all been trucks, I never expected cushy rides from...

VERY likely oil shortages on the horizon: stock up now! (Availability & deal thread)

Only lobbied, or succeeded? You're right though. Muddying definitions is almost as popular in marketing as it is in politics. joe

VERY likely oil shortages on the horizon: stock up now! (Availability & deal thread)

I read that full synthetics are gonna suffer shortages because of this. Can y'all tell me how natural shortages are gonna cause synthetic shortages; other than people just switching to synthetic because their natural source dries up? That was not the flavor of the story. I'm leaning toward...

    I have a stupid question...

Even if they don't work, if they were installed they should still be there. I can't imagine anyone spending the time, effort, and money to remove them. From the driver's seat, look over your right shoulder. They should be up high, in the right rear corner. They're not large. The whole thing is...

    I have a stupid question...

Mine's evidently out of whack, but yes. Thanks. I've never heard a tone, but maybe it's because I have after market screen and audio gear. The time only one came on, I thought it was the red one, which is contrary to the manual. That's probably my error. I think I'll rely on the mirrors and...

    I have a stupid question...

... stupid because it took me so long to notice. Up near the roof, in the right rear corner (D Pillar?) are 3 small lights, in a horizontal row. I noticed last night that they light up when I shift into reverse. One lit once and all 3 lit once. Why? What are they? joe

New Badges for Military Service Members, LEO, FireFighters and EMT

LOL, even for kids who do it right, it's almost like a law to bad-mouth the military on your first enlistment, whether you re-up or not. I was an aircraft mechanic at 17; but on radials, not jets. It's still the best job I ever had. And, as a PS, military people are the best group of folks...

New Badges for Military Service Members, LEO, FireFighters and EMT

I wish, but no. I'm way too old. If I were young though, and had a shot at working in space, I would not hesitate. I could vaporize Russki spaceships with my laser, and kill angry aliens with my pulse weapon. ;) I've tried to talk my grandson into enlisting, but no go. joe

When Do the Puddle Lights Actually Come On ???

You need to adjust them to come on quicker, to show you the puddle BEFORE you step in it. Seriously, I've been waiting for someone to post that the puddle lights come on when the door is opened. Seems logical to me. joe
