    2017 Tahoe 6L80 Transmission Issue

It does, except for the transmissions...I'm thinking he simply didn't put enough fluid in it - perhaps a couple quarts (2-3) low which would generate a no-movement condition in many cases. At least, that would be the simplest and preferred cause here...Everything else means extensive diag work...

    2017 Tahoe 6L80 Transmission Issue

Check fluid level, top off until it's at full when hot (160 degrees+) then try to drive it. If it still won't move, the following are causes: 1. Torque converter failure 2. Pump rotor/slide break up 3. Check ball #1 and #5 both stuck in plate or migrated away from their seating locations 4...

    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

Yea, I'd drive it a few more times locally, pay attn to the amount of time for each delayed engagement into drive, especially when fluid has warmed to normal operating temp. If there's a difference, that tells me soft parts are beginning to wear; if it's the same cold or hot, could be forward...

    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

Thanks, Mike - appreciate the kind words! I'd put a few more drive cycles to see if the condition persists...If so, drop the pan and inspect the bottom, that will be the easiest/fastest way to determine if the transmission is beginning to fail in some way as you'll see dark, burnt clutch...

    You too, @Gms1987!

Could a techm fix my symptoms?

That's good to hear...Do a line pressure test first, record pressures at idle in all range settings then while driving, if possible. Then, while driving, plug in a scan tool with live trans and tcc data showing on the screen. Look at shift speed, tcc slip speed when duty cycle climbs above 50%...

Could a techm fix my symptoms?

Yep, early style traditional sealing rings.. I don't want to provide a whole bunch of diag/troubleshooting info, all of which can already be found in my 6L80 Info thread, again if the OP isn't comfortable with getting into his transmission so waiting for him to respond...

Could a techm fix my symptoms?

Yes, No, Maybe. How comfortable/confident are you when it comes to working on the transmission, including diagnosis and testing? You're response to the that question will determine how I answer yours.

    Transmission Hops when hot

It's likely that your torque converter clutch regulator/isolator valve(s) and their respective bore in the valve body is worn. Your pump's main pressure regulator valve may also be wearing, requiring higher circuit pressure to stroke those respective valves to complete the gear transition. The...

    2017 Tahoe Trans rebuild advice?

You seriously think there's no private/independent shops that can competently rebuild these transmissions? LOL! The GM Remans are the best of those on the market insofar as factory spec 6Ls are concerned but they still have all the same weaknesses that the originals did, other than a couple of...

    Transmission Woes Continue!

If you haven't already purchased a reman valve body, you can vacuum test yours (or take to it to a transmission shop that has a Sonnax vac test machine) and they can test it, if you want to definitively rule in or out the valve body.

    2004 Yukon - Rumbling at ~50mph - Please help!!

Sounds like valve body, specifically TCC regulator valve. Can also be a broken outer 1-2 accumulator spring or worn 1-2 acc piston pin bore and/or seal, especially if you dont have a "component slipping" code. Lastly, could be worn 2-4 band combined with excessive band clearance. Why? No need...

    Transmission Woes Continue!

I wonder if Shift Sol B has failed mechanically but the windings inside of it are still putting out the correct resistance...Just a guess....You can swap the two shift solenoids to see if the code changes...If it does and you get a DTC for Sol A, like P0753 (which would be the same solenoid that...

    2004 Yukon - Rumbling at ~50mph - Please help!!

If it's shuddering at/around 40mph then it could very well be converter....Was the converter replaced when the transmission was rebuilt. Also, describe to me what you're referring to as a 'sticky' 1-2 shift - no clue what that means...Is it late and harsh or early/overly soft...Does the trans...

    2004 Yukon - Rumbling at ~50mph - Please help!!

Not sure why you'd think a transmission rebuilt by a competent shop would be any worse than a 'full replacement', especially considering the amount of hack reman companies out there. Insofar as the problem itself, how long has this been happening? Was it occurring before the transmission was...

    Transmission Woes Continue!

Like @rockola1971 said, black dust is a bad sign, if in quantity at the bottom of the pan. You're also going in and out of limp mode (3rd and reverse only). Did you continuity-test all the solenoids when the pan was off? Visual inspections are fine but only tell half the story... You need to...

Hopefully you havent done anything like sand your pressure plate. Please answer my question - list and describe how you are measuring your clurch clearance. I suspect you're not doing it correctly but want to confirm based on what you tell me. I wont answer any other questions unless you...

    2017 Tahoe Trans rebuild advice?

That bill is typical of these transmissions; labor rates here in Vegas are running between $175-225 per hour. My cost to rebuild 6L transmissions is approaching 5k; parts prices keep going up in ways I've never seen before until post-Covid. At this point, you're pretty much stuck with...

What do I need to reset codes?

You simply need a scan tool capable of clearing the code...I would think most basic, low-buck scanners can clear an evap code since it's an emissions related DTC.

    4L60e issues after rebuild

Why are you reusing things that should be tossed? All electronic/electrical parts should be put in the trash and replaced with AC Delco, Rostra, Delphi or Borg Warner components. Its begging for a comeback when that stuff is reused (esp 2006+ 4L60Es with TSS). Same with the converter, which is...
