What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Put the spare on the 2012. No idea how this got in there like this but we discovered it when we got back to our car after a high school art show. It hit the ground when oriented toward the bottom of the tire so I don’t think it was vandalism. I think it just got kicked up by the front tire and...

    Easiest tune for lazy shifting?

+1 for the black bear tune. They have done all 3 of mine and I’m very happy with the results.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

OEM or Dorman. Dorman is better than they used to be.

2013 Chevy Tahoe low oil pressure

Shortly after I bought my 2012 at the end of 2018, I had the same kind of issues with low oil pressure - but only after running for a while. It turned out to be the sender and/or screen as the culprit. I replaced them both with new ACDelco parts sourced from Rock Auto (not Amazon because lots of...

Guidance on when to replace a loose timing chain

Thanks Wes. He has another thread going and a similar post is on the tail end of it. I already weighed in with my opinion about addressing the slack in the chain, replacing the oil pump, and the need to drop the pan to do so. It seems he's looking for additional opinions, which is fine with me.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yeah, it was pretty impressive grit to have done that work outdoors and away from where you normally store your tools. I've had a similar thought - it would be awesome to do a full engine and transmission workup on the bench and have it ready for when one of our Yukons needs it, but I haven't...

Thanks for the details. I'm glad it's working out well overall!

Glitter in 6.2L oil ... please help

This is generally true, but truck cams are optimized for lower end power production. But of course there is significant variation between them in how well they do it. I ran 3 different "truck cam" grinds. One from Vinci, one from BTR, and the Cam Motion I have in there now, and it's superior to...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

How are you liking the power and performance of that 6.0 overall, now that you've had it in there a while?

    Front wheels overheating??

Hard to say what's causing the clear coat failure to accelerate, but I will say that my observation has been similar on clear coated wheels in the past. Once the finish degrades to the point of peeling, it's a pretty steep curve from there. The Meguiar's is supposed to be ph balanced and safe...

    Waterpump: wait or swap preventatively

It's quite a surprising omission. My '02 had it as well, along with every other vehicle I've owned in the last 2 decades but these rigs.

Glitter in 6.2L oil ... please help

Check your numbers on this because it hasn't matched my research or experience at all. And I went down many rabbit holes both here and on the LS1Tech forums. As best I can tell, VVT is good for MAYBE 15 hp down low - it's mainly a fuel economy play on the L94 - and that 15 hp is easily made up...

I know it and I'm feeling your pain. Had to drop my pan 3x myself because of bad lifter trays taking out cams until I figured it out.

Glitter in 6.2L oil ... please help

Had to drop the pan, unfortunately. Oh, one of the reasons I went with the 3-bolt non-VVT cam was to get rid of that damned tensioner and replace it with the bowtie type for better durability.

Glitter in 6.2L oil ... please help

It's the one that Summit recommended to me at the time. I don't know if it's superior, but I know that it works very well in the L94. After my initial cam swap, I had to go back in and replace the pump because the factory pump wasn't keeping the pressure high enough - similar to your situation -...

Glitter in 6.2L oil ... please help

The L94 came with a HV pump from the factory. I used the Melling 365HV on my 2012 and my oil pressure has been great. And in the interest of continuing to help you spend your money, here is my cam swap thread in case you want to get into a full AFM delete at some point. I'm thrilled with the...

    Waterpump: wait or swap preventatively

Got it, thanks! Looks like Rockauto carries the Dorman replacement kit for $230 in case anyone wants to go that route. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=13960921&cc=0&pt=6900&jsn=328 I'll keep a close eye on the ones on my '07. It was an Arizona vehicle for the first 11 years of its...

    Waterpump: wait or swap preventatively

Thank you. Just to be clear, you're talking about the hoses that run from the coolant tees at the firewall, under the vehicle, to the rear heater core, yes? And also the associated elbows under the rear of the vehicle?

Glitter in 6.2L oil ... please help

That pan has evidence of several extended oil change intervals all along the sides. The pan in my 2012 was relatively clean with just a brownish staining at 120K, and no carbon buildup like that. This is what a damaged cam lobe looks like. Note the deep scar along the edge. This was caused by a...

    Waterpump: wait or swap preventatively

I share your maintenance philosophy. But this particular item is a new one for me. I mean, I know what and where they are, but I have seen very few cases of them failing with the same frequency, or as early as, the coolant tees at the firewall. My old '02 Suburban is still running around with...

    Front Differential Fill Plug Removal?

The local quick lube shop near me stocks replacement plugs because apparently they have to booger a lot of them to get them out.
