    Radiator Fan Questions

Thanks for taking the time to call them. However, I'd be very surprised if that information is accurate. The factory motors for the non-enhanced cooling package are 500W, and these do a noticeably better job of cooling than the ones I replaced. When these fans kick up to full duty cycle when...

I installed Car Quest (new, not remanufactured) CV joints on my '07 earlier this year. So far, so good. Got them from my local Advance Auto - they often have good discounts through their mobile app.

    2013 Yukon SLT 5.3 2WD Longevity

When the TC lockup clutch starts to go (how most of them fail), you'll likely feel a shuddering sensation. By then, it's maybe a 50/50 if it's too late because when they let go, they send ground metal and friction material through all of the coolers and into the transmission, taking all of them...

    2013 Yukon SLT 5.3 2WD Longevity

Yes. At 161K, you're on borrowed time for the TC. Find a local transmission shop that gets stellar reviews on Google Maps. They will be familiar with the problem and will likely have a recommendation for their preferred TC provider. Tell them you want one with a flanged hub, a billet cover, and...

    Radiator Fan Questions

If it helps anyone at all, this is the Dorman part I installed on my 2012 XL Denali to gain the K5L fans. Rockauto carries it: https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-20263-620-654.aspx

    Tonyrodz's Tahoe Build Thread

Duuuuude. SO glad that didn't turn out badly. Glad you could laugh it off but please don't do that again. And thanks for sharing because I'm just the kinda guy to do stuff like that, even though I know better. Sometimes my laziness overtakes my self-preservation instinct. Next time that happens...

Dried Yellowish Liquid on Front Differential (SOLVED: popped engine mount)

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It’s probably too late, but for the benefit of future readers, it’s also a really good time to replace the engine oil cooler lines if you have them on your rig. They age and start leaking after 100k miles or so.

    Heater Core Lines

The trick to removing the tees is to push inward toward the firewall, then while still pushing, squeeze the tabs with all you can muster and they should release. Mine did on both of mine that way.

Just read through this whole thread and had a moment of gratitude for the people here and just how fantastic the knowledge and experience is that’s in this group, and that so many are willing to share it. It’s an oasis.

2011 Suburban 2500 Rear Axle Swap

That’s what I’m thinking. The clip keeps the adjuster from backing out. If it backs out, the bearing there loses its preload and if it backs out far enough it starts grinding itself down and throwing metal through the whole diff assembly, eventually taking out other bearings. In my case the...

    torque converter replacement question

Like Charlie, I also have the BU60FHD. Mine was made when the product line was still owned by CVC (a well-regarded rebuilder in transmission shop circles). They sold out to VEGE in 2022 I believe, and I don't know if they changed any of the specs. But, it has a flanged hub which provides more...

2011 Suburban 2500 Rear Axle Swap

This is the first 14-bolt that I've owned so I'm not an expert here, but it seems that the nature of the defect in yours was the same as the defect in mine. Specifically, an improperly installed (or missing) adjuster retainer on one side. Mine took about 20K miles to start making noise. The guy...

    Considering L96 6.0 Swap - Initial questions

I suspect a hydro boost brake setup would at least eliminate some of the consequences.

    Considering L96 6.0 Swap - Initial questions

I concur with my accomplices here that the L96 (or any) 6.0 would be an excellent choice. And @Charlie207’s comments about the Cam Motion cam are spot on. I have their stage 2 truck cam in the 'high lift' (.553) version ground specifically for the 6.2. Really happy with it. Just a slightly...

2012 Yukon Denali 1500 with 6.2. Truck sitting at idle in park and the engine just dies?

An internally bad negative battery cable or a loose connector at one of the battery terminals would do it. My 2012 died on me pulling into traffic hauling a trailer once because the dealer forgot to tighten down the negative battery terminal after doing the airbag recall. After a few minutes of...

Bet you cant figure it out - SOLVED

I'm late to the party but thankfully I have all of the answers. :p Excellent troubleshooting process so far. My next steps would be to replace the spark plug and plug wire with new ones to rule out a cracked insulator or bad lead. If still no change, then I'd do as @RET423 suggests and make up...

    Radiator Fan Questions

Chiming in just in case it might be helpful: My 2012 Yukon XL Denali did not come from the factory with the K5L enhanced cooling package which would've included the higher wattage fans. So, a couple years ago I ordered the Dorman 7/9 blade higher wattage fan assembly (K5L) from Rockauto and it's...

2013 Escalade noise: AC compressor or engine...?

In my opinion, that noise is happening at 1/2 crankshaft rotation speed. I would lay money down (or at least a bottle of decent rye), that that's cam-related if you've ruled out a loose spark plug. A loose plug can produce an intermittent chugging/scraping sound like that. Timing chain...

RIP old friend (Hwy crash and totaled 07 Tahoe)

Thank you for sharing your story, and I’m glad you’re alive to tell it! RIP to the souls in the other car - a tragedy their loved ones will likely struggle to overcome for years. So sad, and I’m sure they’re on your mind all the time, too. I’m sorry you’re still fighting the insurance company...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Took it to the CAT scale with the Airstream behind it. It’s lighter than our previous camper by exactly 600 lbs., so that’s a plus. But as any of you with experienced towing eyes can see, the weight distributing hitch needs significant adjustment. It should be shifting 500-600 more lbs from the...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Fixin’ to pull our camper home with it. Gonna be a hot day today. Glad I made all those engine and cooling system mods to it a few years ago. Route 33 over the Blue Ridge between Luray and Shenandoah.
