    Suburban 3500 known as 1TONSUB

This is a matter of considerable debate amongst self-proclaimed legal and insurance experts. After going down all of the rabbit holes, this is where I landed: 1.) The stated towing capacity in the manual is 3,000 lbs. But you have to understand why that's the case and why it's not actually a...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I hear ya. And yet my 2012 XL Denali has DL3 and no puddle lights. So what do you make of that?

    GM 6L80 Transmission Information Thread

Hmmmm....I'm wondering how they routed the coolers. There is a transmission oil-to-water cooler in the pax side end tank of the radiator AND an additional oil-to-air cooler mounted in front of the radiator. They BOTH need to be plumbed in series with each other, with the radiator end tank...

    Oil for 2014 6.2 AFM/ DOD

I have two Yukon XL Denali's with the 6.2L. One is a 2007 with the L92 and the other is a 2012 with the L94. I run Walmart 5w-30 DexOS in the 2007 (250K on the odo) and Amazon 5w-40 Euro oil in the 2012 (144K on the odo) because it has an aftermarket cam and no DoD or VVT. This latter choice was...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I’m pretty sure the code DL3 is not specific to mirrors with puddle lights. My 2012 has that code, and does not have puddle lights, and I’m sure they are the original mirrors.

    Suburban 3500 known as 1TONSUB

I met another former 3500 owner in person here in Richmond when I picked up a Class V hitch from him. He lives out near Norfolk, and mentioned that installing torsion bars and rear leaf springs from a GMT900 Suburban 2500 improves the ride. For my part, I think the ride is fine - especially...

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

Yes, that's right. It's just a flash process and then you're done with the tool. It only has a simple LCD screen with menus, but no live data display. I have HP Tuners with a laptop for logging live data while I drive, if I need to for some reason.

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

Yes, I have a Blackbear tune on both of my Yukon XL Denali's and on the Suburban 3500. It makes the shifts quicker (less clutch slipping), and tightens up the converter locking. You can also ask for their recommendations on changing which gears the TC locks up in for towing duty. When I...

Oil leak from Oil Pan and Oil Pressure Relief Valve

Unless the previous owner had the TSB service done per GM specs. That wouldn’t survive a rebuild unless the block was never cleaned. But I see that as a long shot anyway. Something is up with your PCV system (or you have a hole in a piston). The crankcase pressure is likely the problem, not the...

Front End Clunking and Bump Steer (i think).

I've had a reman BBB rack on my '07 for 3 years now and it's been fine. I was just under it replacing the LCA's and CV axles last weekend and it's still clean, leak free, and tight as a drum.

    bucking while driving

+1 that it sounds like classic impending TC failure symptoms. Yours has the 4L60E though, right? How many miles on the transmission/TC that's in it?

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Wes has it right. To clarify a little further, when the return spring fails, the resulting sound is like an irregular 'tinking' sound coming from the bellhousing. Since a cracked flex plate can sound similar, I think some people mistake the flex plate for what's actually a failed return spring...

Oil leak from Oil Pan and Oil Pressure Relief Valve

Does the problem also occur when the engine is warmed up and the oil pressure has tapered down a bit with the warmer oil? The oil pressure relief valve in the pan is a pop-off valve. It's spring loaded and is supposed to pop open when the AFM system changes modes with the pressure spikes, and...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Lol. I only mentioned it because I skipped that step last time and the bushings in the control arms I just took out were a little tore up.

Remember to tighten the LCA through bolts only when you have the weight of the vehicle on the control arms. I did this using a jack under the ball joint.

No, I was lucky on both trucks. But they’ve also been dry country most of their lives and we rarely see salt in Richmond.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Got the new lower control arms on the 2012 last weekend and this weekend finally replaced the lower control arms and CV axles on the 2007. Some of you may remember me whining about the Moog ball joint boots splitting several months ago, after less than 5 years in service. I replaced them with...

    Stumped by ABS

Yes, he bled them with the scanner. Something is wrong with the booster or the installation would be my first thought. Triple check the installation, pushrod end play and side rubbing etc. If it all checks out, I would order a combined booster and master cylinder from a reputable company such...
