What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yup makes sense. I've also seen planets also go if they weren't reassembled properly. Some of them have indexing marks on the gears and need to go back together the exact same way they came apart. Either way, I'm sorry you got stuck with a botched repair or rebuild job on that thing, and your...

L92 in 07 Denali is toast is L92 only option

No AFM in the 2007-2009 6.2’s. Some of the first few produced for the 2007 model year had the hardware but it was turned off in the tune. If you have a flat valley cover, there is no AFM hardware in it.

    2007 Chevy tahoe not starting

My money is on the fuel pump/fuel pump relay. But as Wes and others have said, you need to get a pressure gauge on that fuel rail. I can't think of any evap system failure mode that would lead to a no-start like this. Definitely not the battery or starter - that thing is turning over plenty...

That's a pretty impressive failure. Any idea what led to it or did it just grenade like that? Even more impressive that you got home with it.

What would you buy if you had to replace your GMT800/900 SUV and couldn't buy a GM product?...

Missed this thread earlier. Is this a trick question? There is nothing else built in the last 20 years that compares with a Suburban 2500/3500 except maybe an older Excursion. If I was going to go that route, I would find an older 7.3 version (or a bulletproofed 6.0) and do a full frame-off...

    Power Steering Pain

Yup, looks like the rack to me. Had the same thing happen on my '07 and I replaced it with a reman which has been fine for a few years now. But the good news is that they now make *new* replacement racks for about the same price as a reman - you can get them on Rock Auto.

2012 yukon denali hot idle engine tick/noise

For others who may stumble across this, I went with the "high-lift" .553 version. To do so required upgraded beehive springs, so I went with the BTR .560 springs and they've been great.

Cracked Cylinder Sleeve Causes & Backstory

Bummer this happened. All I can do is say what I know I would do in your shoes. I'd find a low mileage L96 out of an HD pickup and drop it in. It's literally a drop-in replacement and it has an iron block. It'll start right up on the L92's tune, and you can have a final tune done by Blackbear.

L92 in 07 Denali is toast is L92 only option

These trucks are the closest thing to 'heirloom quality' you can get in a vehicle built in the last 20 years. I'm with Michael: get your hands on a low mileage L96 and drive it for another 310K miles. I have 251K on my '07 now and can easily see myself driving it well into retirement, 10 years...

2012 yukon denali hot idle engine tick/noise

Very cool that we're only 3 hours apart, and I note that you have great taste in vehicles. :) It's worth me mentioning though that the BTR Stage 2 truck cam and the Cam Motion stage 2 truck cam are quite a bit different from each other. The BTR cam was ground to be "compatible" with 4.8, 5.3...

The Adventures of Sylvester, the 2018 Suburban 3500 HD and our 2017 Airstream 27FB

Nice! Fuel capacity is 39 gallons though. At least that’s what my manual says for my 2018. What was your DTE display showing?

2012 yukon denali hot idle engine tick/noise

If you've ruled out an exhaust leak as it seems you have, and there isn't a chirping noise accompanying the tick, then I would wager that you have a lifter that will no longer pump up properly with oil pressure. I concur with rdezs's opinion of getting those lifters out of there and replacing...

Oil leak from Oil Pan and Oil Pressure Relief Valve

Spot on. All of it. The valley cover bolts on my L94 were barely finger tight after 9 years and 120K miles back in 2021, but it wasn't leaking. For the benefit of others - the gasket under that plate takes a set after a while, gradually releasing the tension from the bolts. If there is any...

Unfortunately, I don’t. They went out with the recycling this morning. Or at least I think they did because I am in San Antonio at the moment, and my father-in-law took the can to the curb. I will be home Sunday, though, and will measure them if they are still there.

    Oil cooler gasket replacement

Watch the torque spec. It's a small diameter bolt into aluminum so it won't survive being over-torqued. And you don't want to be down there trying to get a Heli-coil in there. Don't ask me how I know. :p

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

Well, shit. I wonder if the dipstick tube from a K2 with a 6L80 might do the trick? Edit: nvm - none of them had one. Edit again: The 2015 with the 6L80 did! https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6355269&cc=3307626&pt=49580&jsn=807

    Rear Pinion Seal

It's worth looking at the pinion bearings and noting any pitting you can see visually or with a finger. If either are pitted, they should be replaced as well, but that's a whole other can of worms. Edit: After I wrote that I remembered that the opinion will still be in the differential so you...

The Adventures of Sylvester, the 2018 Suburban 3500 HD and our 2017 Airstream 27FB

The fill capacity illusion is an issue on the 1500's as well. Both of my XL Denali's have a 31 gallon tank but I've never been able to put more than 26 gallons in either of them - and that was when I was sweating bullets after driving longer than I was planning to with the fuel light on, and the...
