Considering bare long block 6.0 LY6 for swap

Is there a reason you didn't want a 6.2? BTW, it's moot now, but WRT the question about the intake manifold, the 5.3s have "cathedral port" heads and 6.0 and 6.2 have "rectangle port" heads, so the manifolds don't swap.

    Rear auto ride shocks

That's great to know. Now the question is: how hard is it to get things warrantied via RockAuto?

    Few things I wonder about.

I don't have the knowledge to address that. Is the rear main seal PTFE anyhow?

    Few things I wonder about.

Seals go bad mostly due to simple aging causing shrinkage and hardening. "High mileage" oils have additives that are supposed to rejuvenate them. To improve the old-style valve covers, I'd lightly fill them with stainless or copper (real copper, not copper-plated steel) pot scrubbers. I've...

    Oil pickup tube o-ring replacement

To be pedantic, it aerates the oil. Cavitation involves the fluid itself transitioning to a vapor state under an instantaneous vacuum condition and then collapsing back on itself (e.g. water pumps, fuel pumps, boat propellers, ultrasonic cleaners).

    Which Left Manifold-to-Downpipe Seal? 2.83" ID x 0.190" or 2.875" ID x 0.168"?

Good idea. I was going to remove them anyhow to minimize interference and banging them on anything during exhaust removal/reinstallation.

    Which Left Manifold-to-Downpipe Seal? 2.83" ID x 0.190" or 2.875" ID x 0.168"?

Yes, the right side has the donut. I specified left because that's where my confusion lies -- there are two different sizes of ring. Guess I'll be getting one donut and one each of the two different rings.

Discussion - Oil pressure discrepancy over an oil change interval

What are your driving habits? Do you just do short trips around town or do you ever take sustained drives of 30+ minutes at highway speeds? Fuel dilution is mentioned, which leads me to wonder if: A) you ever get the oil hot enough, and B) what is the pressure behavior the next cold start...

    Which Left Manifold-to-Downpipe Seal? 2.83" ID x 0.190" or 2.875" ID x 0.168"?

Y'all, In preparation for lowering the exhaust to do the torque converter and oil pickup o-ring on my '13 5.3, I'm accumulating parts. RockAuto shows the MAHLE/CLEVITE F31618 at 2.83" ID x 0.190" and the VICTOR REINZ 711368100 at 2.875" ID x 0.168". Is there any way to tell which is required...

I hate to be an ass and ask, but: is the bar possibly on upside-down?

Any Experiences with The LuK TorCon TC0017 Torque Converter?

Thanks, I'd appreciate that. I have HP Tuners and would like to look at the differences in tuning. There are libraries of various tunes out there already, but I like to know who has experience with particular tunes to get feedback on them.

Are you using stock transmission tuning? If not, what parameters did you modify (and what values)?

[SOLVED] Underhood Intermittent Screech In Freezing weather

These aren't videos, but: 1) They've been standard on Corvettes since '01, so they've been on GM vehicles for at least a quarter century: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c5-tech/2607028-c5-alternator-decoupler-pulleys.html 2) They're on GMT K2XXs...

    Another brake "job".

They've existed since at least the '80s in professional form. My Dad was a certified BMW mechanic with his own shop and his looked like a propane tank split around the middle (similar to this one). In between the two halves was a diaphragm that separated the pressurized air from the fluid.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I was up with some indigestion and instead of riling myself up with doomscrolling, I figured I'd work on the parts list for the Tahoe. The biggest ticket item on my list is the Luk TorCon TC0017 converter, and I saw RockAuto has it for $348.79. That's much better than Summit's price of $491.99...

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Include your spare in the scenario. If the spare will still fit on the back, at least, you'd have to do a double tire change for a flat on the front (which was the case when I went to discs up front on my '57 Chevy and only had a 14 inch spare). If it won't fit either front or back, it ain't...

Boost Power Folding Towing Mirror Installation/Review

You might not care to do this while they're under warranty, but if it annoys you enough and it's technically feasible to get in there, you could affix some weights to the back side of the glass to change the resonant frequency. You could test the necessary weight by taping it to the outside...

My Installation of A Diode Dynamics SS3 LED Fog Light Kit as Driving Lights

Commenting with an update to the statement in bold orange above, which is no longer correct. As of November 2025, all of the white LEDs used by Diode Dynamics are 6K. Make of this what you will. For me, I was looking at installing cornering lights that would match, but cannot do so with...

    AC Delco 21650 CHEAP Radiator

Nice catch! In case anyone doesn't get it, "flipped" in this case does not mean "mirrored," it means it's turned 180° out. The upper driver side that should be at the top left of the photo is at the bottom right. Note the mounts.

That looks great! Much better than the "universal" one I was going to try. I've never done any upholstery like this. Any tips (or tutorials you know of) to keep the stitching uniformly taut across the whole thing?

How do you power your dash cam?

The above comment is too old to edit, but upon re-reading, the bolded orange text is wrong. Using RAP would not make sense for parking mode on a dash cam and it's actually not what I used, which was constant power. I'm kinda surprised no one caught that and called me out on it!
