Ok so a VVT delete kits, all it is, is the 3 bolt cam gear and a LS3 timing cover.....I already have the non VVT 3 pin connector that came with the truck factory. Do I need a whole kit or can I just change the cam gear and keep the same timing cover? I've been thinking about this alot and unless...
Is there any need to raise the truck or can I do this with the truck on the ground? Also what do you mean the front and rear covers? Like the edges of the pan where it meets the block?
Ok I've searched videos and Google and I can't find the proper way to remove the oil pump in my 08 Yukon Denali. It's AWD and has the L92 I have the timing cover off and the bolts out of the pump but it won't come forward off the crank. I've read that some drop the oil pan but with the AWD how...
Hey, not trying to steal your thunder but I noticed you are installing a cam on the somewhat same engine as mine. You are installing a vvt cam right, mine is the l92 non vvt....I know this because of the shape of my valley cover and because my cam phaser is a 3 pin and not the active afm 5 pin...
It should be a 3 bolt, mine is nonvvt so i dont have to worry about a delete. I hadnt though about a tensioner.....do they go bad or what are the benefits? That is a question i also have. I can install all the parts but will it cranck and be drivalbe enough ti get to a tuner?
Yeah the lady i got it from constantly ran it on 87 idk why, its a higher tier vehicle with moderate performance it requiers the good stuff from factory
Im not looking for power i just to liven up the truck. I got the truck cam because i do want a choppy sound but nothing that needs a higher stall. Its a dad-mobile pretty much so just want it to have that "cool" factor but definitely i think it might need a tune after a cam
Ok sounds good, im keeping a stock gasket only thing that is going to be changed/ upgraded is the cam and springs, cam comes as a kit with blue behive springs and valve seals and ill get all new gaskets upgraded melling high volume oil pump. Since i have the engine down to pretty much a short...
So heads are good. Guy just recomended to get everything new, lifters, cam and all gaskets. So i decided to go up a noctch. Going with BTR stage 2 v2 truck cam, new ls7 lifters, new high volume oil pump and all new seals. Now i am wondering if i need to change my pushrods or can i use the same...
Sounds good guys! Thanks for the help. Ill be sending them off to a shop. Ill let you guys know how it goes. Fingers crossed and i hope it turns out good!
I live in North East Mississippi. Yes that is correct. The piston looks fine it doesnt look steam cleaned to say it was a headgasket and it doent have any chips or dents in the face of the piston to indicate that the valve hit. No i have not sent the heads out since i want to minimize my...
Ill take the springs to get tested and see if there is much of a difference. Unfortunately i dont have access to an air compressor. I havent tried pouring a few oz of oil to see if it seeps past the rings yetsince it has been very cold here lately and i dont have a indoor garage. But hopefully...
When you say "slave another into the plug wire" what do you mean exactly? Jut a plug in the wire and leave it outof the cylinder to see that it throws a spark? If so i somewhat already did that, no the same way but i pulled the wire off the plug and it shot out a good inch of spark while the...
I swapped banks on the coils and i did a compression test before i removed the heads and the psi on the BAD cylinder was 90psi. Now im guessing it was because the valve wasnt closed....ill check on the guides but the valves were held pretty good i had to push on then a bit to get them out but...
Actually it was the only valve that looked like that the others looked normal. Even the intake on the same cylinder looked good no build-up here is a picture of the intake valve from the same cylinder.
So i pulled the heads. Everythi g looks good except for the obvious culprit cylinder 8. The valve was coated.....no it was CAKED in carbon build up. So im guessing it was not sealing properly. So what are my options now? What could have caused that? So that i may replace it and get my truck back...
Ok, so i decided to go ahead and take the heads off since i was thinking of all the "guesstimation" that would have to be done. ive been slowly been chopping away at it after getting off work. i have so far gotten the intake off, unbolted the headers, and im currently disconnecting the exhaust...
Ok, so just got back from my local autozone. Is there another way i can do that leakdown test or a way i can check the valves. Autozone doesnt have a leakdown tester kit, they dont even have it in their list of loaner tools also i dont have readily available access to an air compressor, i have a...
Now hat you mention it no i didnt see oil going to the top of the head. i havent noticed any leaking coolant so i havent checked to see if im low. i havent done the air leakdown test as i dont have access to an air compressor. The truck hasnt been up to operating temps since the problem started...
