I don't know how I'm just now finding this out: some of you may already know that waaaaaay back in the early 2000s GM struck a deal with the head of a NASCAR team named Joe Gibbs (who was also an ex football coach) to make a limited number of special edition performance based Tahoes with his name on them. Like Shelby and Ford I guess. The option was called the Joe Gibbs Performance Package. Factory supercharged 5.3L that made 400hp. And then other body mods like paint matched Escalade style D-pillars, unique front bumper and trim, deleted roof rack, and "lightweight racing" wheels, among other minor changes I'm assuming. Only offered on the 2004 and 2005 model years. I never knew this until yesterday

Sweet ride! I believe Gibbs was actually an NFL head coach for the Redskins and only a team owner of JGR but never drove.
he was the coach for the redskins, only played in HS and collage. and was a pit crew member long before he built a nascar team. never raced.

And I know 400hp from a supercharged V8 is kinda "eh" nowadays (esp when you know other companies can get over 300hp from an N/A V6), but I'm interested to know what the torque band looked like.

Neat truck. Doubt it was factory supercharged though, pretty sure it was an aftermarket set-up that was authorized by GM.

Actually, he was not.
Joe Gibbs, the renowned NFL coach and NASCAR team owner, was not a pit crew member himself. He built his career as a football coach with the San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Cardinals before founding Joe Gibbs Racing. The Joe Gibbs Racing team features professional pit crews, not Joe Gibbs personally.

he dabbled in the over the wall stuff (no where near nascar) when he was young. likely where the pasion came from to later in life build a race team.

How about another Joe Gibbs bio?

The only NFL head coach to win Super Bowls with 3 different QBs.

He's won 5 NASCAR Cup championships as owner of Joe Gibbs Racing.
