If you mean the vehicle battery , its unlikely because it's new. If you are hinting that there's a separate battery internal/external to the nav/radio, please point me in the direction of its location. Thanks for the reply.
There may be a thread out there regarding this issue, since it seems to be a design issue.
The problem I'm having is - after setting time, navigation destinations and possibly other programmed info.. once the truck is turned off and is started up after a few minutes, the unit fails to save the...
edzaar.. I checked fuses..they were good, but no power to the OBDII port.. So just for the heck of it I changed fuses to the lighter and Aux pwr... Guess what...the power to the port was restored and the scanner fired right up.. Thank you so much.. Now all I need to do Is find out why my match...
Great info.. I lost my pin layout for the '96-up.. and of course the OBD1 assignments that I do have are useless to me.. I'll check this out in the daylight tomorrow.
Thanks, ezdaar!
The lighter works.. but the aux power outlets flanking it don't..the fuse isn't blown though.
The mechanic was able to link up using an Autel MaxiDAS DS708 I think (it looks similar if it isn't).. I'm using an Actron Auto Scanner Plus 9580.
I tried connecting my OBD2 reader after the mechanic failed to set my cam sensor.. Now my reader won't link to the truck..I mean it doesen't even see a vehicle connected.. I know it works: 1 it's new..2 it linked to my wife's car with no problem. I'll assume the mechanic damaged the OBD2...
Well..after getting a rebuilt set of heads on the 'ol girl not much has been going right.. The cam position sensor wouldn't set to clear the service engine light off the cluster and I had a tire blow out on the hwy(not related to the cam).. I was told by the mechanic that it's likely a bad cam...
I wound up upgrading to a Summit aluminum distributor.. Waiting for my next oil change to get the cam position sensor set. You need a 'computer' to do it..no way around it.. I just don't like bringing the old girl up to 4000 rpm to do it- regardless of how smooth she's running..
Check ebay too... you can find some new/used ones listed most of the time..just make sure you buy the right one for your year/vehicle.. I think '96-'99 are the same..'95 had different connections from what I recall.. Yukon will fit, but not Denali/Escalade.
@ atis... Oh yeah, that's the relay pack next to the 'knuckle mangler' AKA blower motor resistor.. $120 seems to be the average cost, but in the heat of the summer it's worth every cent..
Makes sense. thx for the link too..Seeing the gap jump is pretty neat..Pull another wire down the firing order and it's a poor man's displacement on demand..lol
Comet you truely are a wealth of information.
Guessing the 'dizzy' is the distributor..(haven't heard that one if it is). I was under the impression that unlike the older points distributors where you can advance and retard by rotating, the newer computer controlled engines self adjust regardless of position?... I unfortunately do not have...
I blew a head gasket a couple of weeks ago and would up with water in the crankcase.. I didn't realize the gasket failed until 3 days later since there was no smoke out of the pipe and I falsely diagnosed a loose hose clamp as the reason I was losing coolant. It wasn't until I noticed the...
Comet and all..Sorry for the huge delay in posting an outcome from my issue a while back. Since then I had a tire blowout, a heater hose fiting crack off in my intake, and just a week ago a head gasket fail leaking coolant outside and unfortunately for my wallet inside so it got into my...
