CAT back w/dual exhaust, moderate noise

Yes one of the shops I contacted mentioned how easy this install would be if the spare was removed. If I removed the spare, I'd never get my wife to ride with me again ! After 275,000 miles, I've never had the spare on.

CAT back w/dual exhaust, moderate noise

Vehicle is 2004 Tahoe Z71. Looking to install a new dual exhaust system from CAT -back. 2 local muffler shops tell me the dual pipe on the left side is a difficult arrangement due to the gas tank interference. 2nd shop put it up on a rack and I saw the trouble area. It does look crowded where...

    Replacing Z71 suspension components

I bought this 2004 Z71 Tahoe new. It now has 275,000 miles and I want get a much better ride. The poor ride has snuck up on me. There has to be a variety of suspension components that are worn although I haven't had it up to check the underside. It's had a fairly smooth life, believe I've only...

Eyebrow overhead lights Front seat area

The driver/passenger eyebrow overhead lights on my 2004 Z71 have an issue. There are two buttons overhead to manually turn these light on/off - L & R. The black pushbutton on the drivers side has failed somehow. It is loose, there is no spring pressure against it. It rattles around and does not...

    Bolt on flares

Thanks Mama! Yes the installation is described as pretty straightforward - except ! There's a portion of the rear flare that fastens to the rear PAX door. They've tried to show the attachment method in their instruction sheet however it uses double sticky back tape. The flares over the tires...

    Bolt on flares

My 2004 Z71 Tahoe came black w/ black plastic(?) fender flares. I'm pushing 285K miles (still luvin' the truck) and those flares are a dull grey. I've found a company - Husky Liners that offers a nice looking line of replacement flares under their Bushwacker name. I'm looking to replace like for...

    Pegged engine oil gauge

My 2004 Tahoe has been a faithful servant since I bought it new in'04. Oil change every 4K miles, not a hint of oil consumption or trouble. Yesterday I had a few new engine oil drops on the garage floor. Never has leaked prior. Wiped them up took a test drive and noticed my oil pressure gauge...

    Transmission Woes Continue!

I replaced my transmission at 248,000. I was out of town - it began to get noisy and wouldn't shift up. Teltale was the smell and appearance of the fluid

Hi To me the drop box is behind the tranny. It's where the front and rear driveshafts split out of. Do I have this correct?

    Newbie here - Black 2004 Z71

Hi I'm in Chico - hope the Paradise fire wasn't the reason you longer live there - what a tragedy. OK so that 2005 that sold has a custom grill ! Knew there was something different about the frontal picture

    Newbie here - Black 2004 Z71

Hi all - just jumpin' in on the forum here. Bought my 2004 Black Z71 new in 2004. Mileage is about 272,000 now. I've replaced many of the usual components the largest being the drop box at around 160,000 and the tranny at around 240,000. Been doing spark plugs at 100,000 - that sure makes a...
