    If you turn the a/c on and rev it in park, does it still make the noise? I can't imagine why it would only do it under a load unless its not the compressor, but the extra load it puts on the engine causing the engine to be loud.

    Is the a/c cold? I had that problem when my compressor started to seize up. I can't recall the noise it was making but it was strange. Eventually it burned through the belt and I had to have the compressor replaced or it would keep burning through them.
