Update to P0171 trouble code. Believe I got it resolved by replacing purge valve. I know code doesn’t point to this but since I replaced it and cleared codes (battery disconnected for 10 minutes), no check engine light and gas mileage is improved, runs great as well.
Anyone ever hear of a pcm replacement causing an erroneous P0171 trouble code? Ever since my computer was replaced (for another reason). P0171 shows up with check engine light. Any troubleshooting done by qualified techs have come back with no problem found.
Local mechanic read odbc code. Apparently a more detailed code than Orielly showed. It showed a cylinder misfire on cylinder 5 (5.3l v8). Mechanic found the wire to plug was not on properly. He cleaned and fixed and cleared code. So far no problems. Need to test for 4-5 days to confirm fix

Code says mixture too rich on bank 1. Runs ok and have replaced mass airflow, spark plugs and wires, o2 sensors. Air hoses appear to be good. Suspect pcv valve. Any additional items to check?
