    "Adventure/Overland" Build Ideas

I just finished the Nivomat swap with the lift, tires, and treads aspect of this build and I could not be happier. I did the 2 inch coil spacer in the rear from supreme suspensions, Moog Z71 coil springs, Bilstein 5100s (front/rear), and extended sway bar end links in the rear. The tires are...

new to forum need help with wheels an lift combo

Sorry if I am beating a dead horse, but I have some similar questions. First, I did the 2 inch coil spacer, Z71 coils, and 5100s in the rear and the keys were bumped up a couple inches from where it was so it is sitting level (aftermarket keys installed a while back). I am considering a 16x8 or...

The deed is done. Took out autoride, 2" lift, Bilstein 5100's and z71 coils

Just got her done! Where did you get the rub? Question 2: would a 16in rim with a different offset be better? What about a 17in rim running 285-70s. If I am remembering correctly, I thought that I read the rub generally occurs on the inner front. This beast will be going offroad, so I don't want...

Looks great man! Do you have any rubbing with that tire/wheel combo?

That's cuz he's bringing everything else! HaHa. Spent quite a few nights in the back of the hoe while traveling, but it was just me and the dog. I have to accommodate more now. Can't speak for Mike, but this is the type of trailer I'm referring to: http://adventuretrailers.com/trailers/chaser/

Agreed, that is where I am having some issues as well.

Thanks! So did you notice any difference in ride quality or wear on components between the two? Obviously, I am not a suspension maestro. Also, I thought you were referring to coil spacers, not shock extenders. Why didn't you just go for the extended shocks?

I am also wondering at what point do you need to worry about gearing? That is, if you put heavier wheels and tires on, when does gearing become a concern or is it at all?

I am totally interested in your build. You'll literally be Cadillac camping! Sweet! Don't know if that is a widely used term, but that is what I refer to car camping as (sans Cadillac). I have already done a complete brake job with stock components, so I won't be doing that upgrade anytime soon...

Why the extended rear sway bar links? And what rear spacers did you use?

Thanks a lot. What bushings are you referring to exactly? Reason that I ask is that I am wondering if it would be wise to replace anything else in the back as I'm doing the shocks and springs?

I've had her for about 7 years now and mechanically she is fit. Got rust, but mechanically sound. I am currently having some bushing issues in the front and the rear output seal of the transfer case (90% sure I am talking about the right seal) has been pesky over the years, but other than that...

And tires would prolly be 33 min. That's what I'm thinking anyways for a trailer, but that is an entirely different conversation.

I had the truxx lift/level kit put on it with 5100s in front. The rear, with the spacers, bottomed out over speed bumps! Had that taken out and just had them level the front (keys) out. Yet still, that back end will ass out over nothing. I need more than that. And I have thought about replacing...
