Why are 5.3 dogs?

Why are 5.3 dogs?
I have an 03 Yukon and was told by my mechanic that the intake manifold was leaking causing it to lose power. It's fine around town but when I hook up my trailer (2800#) it really drops off the power. Anyone else have this problem? Pulling the trailer I'm getting 9-10 mpg. I bought it because I...- DarylinB

Oil pressure guage
I have a 2003 Yukon and when I start it, the oil pressure guage goes to 80# right away and stays there. Would that mean the sender is bad or the guage or what? The Yukon has 78K miles on it and runs great.
