    Chasing Down Oil Leak – 2005 Tahoe 5.3L

    I know you said you checked the oil sender, but did you check the cam sensor below it? They can leak also. My drivers side valve cover gasket was rock hard and had a good leak down the block, but also the rear main cover gasket has been leaking for a long time.

    This weekend I pulled the trans/transfer case and replaced the rear main cover, flexplate, starter, front pump seal in the trans, drivers side valve cover gasket, changed the oil, trans fluid and transfer case fluid, and replaced the barbell with a Derale aluminum piece. Thought I had a cracked...

    Engine hours

    My '05 2500 Silverado Duramax had the cluster replaced before I bought it. At 142k miles when I purchased I knew the hours weren't right. Unless the vehicle was used for a construction company, police, or from a fleet I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    Blend Door Actuator

    If this is a NBS Tahoe with a 4.8/5.3 , that is your drivers side blend door actuator. I believe the only differences is if it has manual hvac or auto hvac. The only other blend door actuator is for the passenger side, which is buried up in the dash. You do have actuators for recirculate and mode.

    We made it back today. 2000 miles, $470 in gas, $25.50 in Tolls, and a dash that is cracked worse now thanks to the WV roads other than the WV turnpike. Those roads SUCK!! Hwy 77 is rough. I've got to get a dashskin for it. Watched the trans temps as the 4l60e did its thing, never got over 210*...

    Wife wanted to go but didn't want to venture out in the rain to go check it out. Right beside the women's museum we went to and the rock n roll hall of fame was beside it. None of my crew was interested in either.

    We are headed to Ohio soon so I have had some repairs to do to the Tahoe. Changed the oil, transfer case fluid and output seal, both rear jounce bumpers, replaced the ac cycling switch, and the ac high pressure fitting. As I was leaving work my passenger headlight quit.... again. Pigtail burnt...
