Just find a leveling kit that gets you the height you want and go for it. I do not consider 70-80k miles to be high mileage at all. I'm at 141k on my 2009 tahoe right now and have put 10k miles on it in the past 6 months after I installed a 3" level, with no problems so far.
I typed a long post thinking you said the truck was a 1500, and then realized you said 2500. Since its a 2500 just tell him to decrank the torsion bars some. Those angles look pretty steep and I'm sure it rides terrible.
I've never posted here because I'm usually on GMFS, but I got some pics of the tahoe after I cleaned it today. There aren't many pics of NBS Z71 tahoes with 18" nnbs z71 wheels so here are a few pics.
