Hey guys, I need to change the valve cover gaskets and I was wondering if anyone has done this on a 99 Tahoe before. If so how involved is it ?
What are some things I should be aware of before I start this job ?

Valve cover gaskets are pretty simple. Although they are usually done at the same time that the intake gasket is done. Intake gasket is a known failure point as the factory gaskets are plastic and cheap.

Tip is to use Felpro gaskets. If you just want to do the valve covers the gasket model number is VS50293R for the 5.7 vortec.

Make sure the sealing surfaces are completely clean and dry when reassemble. Clean heads and clean valve cover. Very thin film of sealer is ok when you attach the gaskets to the valve cover. Do not over tighten the attaching bolts/nuts.
