I always thought that the total it if the damage exceeds something like 70% of the vehicle's value and not 100% of the value. So, if the repair quote is at least around $7,500, then they'll probably total it. That roof is gonna be the deciding factor, and I'd say it's gonna have permanent creases. If it's totaled and the buy back is cheap enough, I'd have the roof fixed as best as possible, replace the glasses and hood and rock it until you're ready to buy something else. You could slam it on 22s or 24s, have a huge sliding ragtop installed and sell it to a southerner as a nice start on a unique custom rig.

Sorry man! The headache around that kind of stuff is always the hardest part. I'm sure it will all work out for you!

If the roof got creased, it is possible the metal lip around the sun roof may have twisted enough that it may leak water faster than the roof drains can take the water away.

Totaled for sure IMO. My mom's Frontier got totaled for a fender, bumper, control arms and some body work on the bed side. Gave her almost 13k for it. This looks like way more damage than that to me (Roof is the real kicker, can't replace that easy or work on it easy).

As far as buying back, yeah. Replace the stuff to can see from the ground, massage the roof and drive it till it dies.

Update - Not totaled.

Shop estimate $9500. My employer is paying & I'll have no deductible.

While it's there, I'm have all my door rust repaired.

It's a weird situation, but there's not another yukon/tahoe/escalade in the area under $30k that am even interested in looking at. Hopefully I can run her until I can afford a '16 denali!

Well sucks on the front end and have to deal with that. On the back end good that the boss is paying and insurance won't penalize for using what you ultimately paid for them to cover, but that is another thread. Keep us posted how the repairs go. Good luck man.

That's about the best way it could've turned out. Good luck with it.
