What cost have you paid to switch your instrument cluster? I called the local dealership, and they told me it would cost $450.00 to transfer the mileage/hours info from my original cluster to my new one. $450 is absolutely crazy to transfer that!!

When I bought my 2000 Tahoe in fall 2011, the seller included an Escalade instrument cluster. I'd love to have it in, but I don't think its work $450.

Are there other places I might be able to go to switch of the info?
Could I ship it somewhere and have them do it?

Just make sure that if you decide to put it in without updating the milage, DO NOT bring it to a dealer or any place that marks milage. It will go on record for having different milage. I had this problem with the dealer when they did my alignment...

Long story short I brought it in for an alignment and to have the dash programed but after he told me the price i opted not to do it. Even though they said they would mark that actual milages and not the milage on the new cluster they did anyway. Well, when a potential buyer went to carfax the truck it came back that it had 233,*** miles!!! which it doesnt...the truck had 147,***. Needless to say it took a very long conversation to the general manager of the dealer (a friend of friend was prolly my only saving grace) and he corrected it with carfax. But now it shows on the CarFax that they submitted the wrong milage and then later fixed it....only going to create more headache when/if i sell the truck. Lesson learned...if you bring it ANYWHERE for service just put the stock dash back in.

did you try telling the seller you changed the cluster? and switching clusters every time you take it to the dealer would still be the wrong mileage.

I just marked the milage on my door from my old one. Clusters go out all the time. As long as you keep good records you shouldnt have a problem. More than 10 years old, miles are exempt. Just dont try to pass off the wrong miles. The feds dont like that.

you can also send the cluster to NAIOA.com and they will transfer all your information for about $80.
