I have a 2005 Yukon 5.3 sle. I checked the owners manual for the oem plug part number of 41-985. When i searched online I read conflicting info of gm putting out a tsb stating to use different plugs. What is everyone using.

Maybe you can call a trusted shop and ask what they would recommend or see what your local dealership would install (most likely the original equipment replacement) so you can get the correct updated part number. Or you can just go with the double platinum, shouldn't have any issues with those.

About 80k miles ago I installed NGK Laser Iridium 1465, I was happy with the plugs so last week decided to go with the same again from Rock Auto.

My '04 5.3 also came with 41-985s. I inquired directly to ACDelco about the unavailability of those, and this is the response I received:

Regarding your inquiry for spark plug for VIN [cut], we show the correct part number to be 41-962. The 41-985 are discontinued and they do show to supersede to 12621258 which is not available and they are no longer recommended for your vehicle. The engineers have made the change to the new spark plug.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our experts at the ACDelco support center by dialing 1-800-ACDELCO (223-3526).

We appreciate your business.

I called my local stealership and they said 41-962. I bought some from Advanced Auto. With the 30%off code I got all 8 for $40 plus a $2/plug rebate. Will only cost me $24 in the end.
