I hate Dorman for even inventing this thing!!! LOL!!! I got the old bolt off and bracket is on with the top bolt in. Trying to get the lower bolt on now. I took valve cover off, jacked up the trans and removed the heat shield..You definitely need patience and some beers with this job...
When I did mine, had a lift. Definitely way easier.

I gave up for the night. Couldn't get the bottom back bolt to thread in. Give it another shot tomorrow...

Get a mirror and a light in there and make sure is all lined up for the bolt. Then, hold your tongue just right and say effin this and effin that a couple times and remember, righty tighty, lefty loosey. Are you able to loosen rest of bolts to allow play to help get that bolt in?

if it's not going in its probably the hole not drilled right. I'd open one up bigger and try.

you can also test fit it on the driver's front side to see

You mean the hole on the bracket? I used a mirror and it seems pretty well lined up. I'm thinking of getting a different bolt with a tapered end. Hoping that would thread in better.

Yeah it seems lined up. Multiple F bombs dropped and bruised face from falling wrenches..try again today after work.

I'd double check just to make sure.. doesn't take much to not wanna start right.

I'd check on the other head or run the next size drill bit thru both holes. won't hurt anything and make it eaiser.

So I tapered the tip of one of the bolts that came with the kit and got it in first shot. Everything else went pretty smoothly. Definitely need patience putting this thing on. Even removing and reinstalling the heat sheild is a struggle. It's a doable project though. Unfortunately this didn't cure my at idle misfire on cyl 5. At least now I know the sound I thought could possibly be the exhaust leak is probably lifters rattling in the tray. So the heads going to end up coming off anyway...lol. I know the manifold was leaking though so when I get a chance I'll do the shop vac thing and see if it sealed the leak.

glad you got it.. sounds like a hassle. I didn't even see how to take the heat shield off. I can definitely see that not being fun.

shame it was something else.
