I have an '04 GMC Yukon XL. The rear wiper motor runs continually but the wiper itself doesn't move. The motor runs even when the car is not turned on. So I took the wiper itself off and now you can't here the the motor noise. What is wrong with it and how do I fix it? I need the wiper back on.

Thanks, any help would be great

Alright awesome, now you say the gearing is stripped out, can just the gears within the motor be replaced or does the whole motor have to be replaced. Also how do you find and fix the short?

thanks

I would pull the switch and test it with a meter to see if the switch is bad.

I would also pull the motor module and test it.

I doubt they sell replacement gearing.

its probly a control issue since the motor will only run when it gets power...

Alright I read that its best to start testing with a meter at the connector that connects right to the wiper motor, but I don't know what the 5 different colored wires signify, can anyone tell me what each color wire does? 2 of the wires have voltage, one has 11.25, and the other has 12.06. Are all 5 wires supposed to have voltage?

Thanks

According to my drawing:
A is lift gate ajar
B is constant power from the 25A RR WPR fuse
C is Pulse power from the switch on the dash from the 15A RR WPR fuse (Hot in ACC and RUN)
D is Wash power from the button on the dash from the 15A RR WPR fuse (Hot in ACC and RUN)
E is ground

Might be a bad switch. My switch went bad and the wiper washer pump was constantly running until I unplugged the switch. I got another switch and its been fine ever since.
