Overfilling oil?

I'm not sure how you could prove "they have room for it". I would be reluctant to do that.

Why would you even try? Best/ worst scenarios don't even out. Am I missing the advantage to this?

Until they make clear oil plans, I'd go by what the dipstick shows.

I don't doubt you could add, but I can only see it being useful if you leak a lot throughout the day and can't fix the issue right now.

guess it depends on the vehicle my 01 mustang 4.6 i run 6! when the dipstick only wants 5 but that is because the next year they changed the dipstick due to 5 just not cutting it at high rpm and hard cornering! an extra qt probably dosnt matter one way or the other more drag due to crank having to cut through it!
