New User USB Flash Drive Help!

I have a 2012 Denali. I have the usb port in my center console, i bought a usb thumb/flash drive, added music to it and plugged it in. The radio does not recognize it.

Do i need to do an update? Do i need to format it a certain way? Is this not supported?

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I will chime in with my experience for the time being until someone who knows comes in. I have a '13 Denali, by the way. I used a 16GB thumb drive, formatted it "FAT32" and it had no problems. I also remember reading somewhere in the owners manual that the flash drive can only contain <1000 songs to be recognized.
