My V8 running on a 6 cylindar distributor?!?!?!

They maybe the same part but the screw holes for the rotor are different. If you look at the plate the rotor connects to, there's 4 screw holes that are keyed to fit the rotor.
I know cause I tried to use a dizzy from my blazer to troubleshoot an engine code on my hoe. There was no way I could get the rotor pointing to #1 and have the alignment marks on the shaft be right.
Are you throwing a P1345 code?

I double checked it. It is the same rotor D465. It is use on 5.7l and 4.3l from 96-99 and at least some 5.0l and 6.0l engines as well.

I don't doubt it. I can say that my hoe (96 5.7l) dizzy had a marking for a 6 and an 8, The blazer (97 4.3l) dizzy only had a 6 marking. The 8 rotor would not fit on the 6 and have the shaft marks line up . They were off about 120 degrees.

what are the dicrections on installing a new cap and rotor
