Hi, I've got a 2002 Tahoe ls with the 4.8. I want a deeper louder sound so I'm thinking about getting the super 40 or 50. But I took my Tahoe to an exhaust shop today and he quoted me 120$ for installation. I feel like that is overpriced. He also said that it's 2.75" in and 3" dual out and I could not find a muffler that size.
When I look up muffler for my vehicle it gives me 3" singe in/out. So I'm really confused on all this.
Anybody know if that's normal?
Thanks!

****** max flow, thank me later.
Stay as far away from flowmaster as possible! they are junk.

Crawl under your ride and look at the exhaust yourself,. don't trust people trying to make money and or websites that have been known to be wrong.

120$ for a muffler and the install is a good price.

Here is a decoble rating sheet. obviously bigger number is louder.
A quiet idle and drone free cruise is optimum. As you can see the Maxflow has exactly that and has the highest power gains.

And here is power ratings per muffler. Compare the two to decide on what you want.

I will check that out but it was 120 for just the install not the muffler.

I had a flowmaster 40 series on my 04 5.3 and loved the sound and had it and a new dual tip welded on for 80 bucks included cost of the tip. only reason I went with a flowmast is cause I got it off craigslist for 20 bucks lol also have never had anything against flowmaster.

My 08 with the 5.3 has the Borla ProXS 40359 and it sounds awesome even with the resonator still on. that only cost 40 to install.

120 is ridiculous to just weld in a muffler, I'm sure you can find a cheaper place. I've learned to order the muffler I want and take it somewhere. 99% of the time its way cheaper.

I'll have to measure the pipes myself, he told me its 2.75 in and 3 dual out, and I couldn't even find a masterflow with those measurements.

Last time (12 years ago) i had a muffler installed I cut off the old one in my driveway with a sawzall. Drove it to the shop and had em weld a new one on. They knocked off some of the price since they didn't have to remove the stocker. They charged like $60 and I got tips and an extra hanger...
