I’ll start with I’m a total newbie in the performance parts world with a strong mechanical background, so I know enough to be dangerous. So I’ve been compiling a parts list for a AFM/DOD delete for a L94 in a 13’ Escalade and I’ve been eyeing a TSP L99 VVT-2.2 Camshaft 227/239 .629/.629 113+6 (25-TSPL99VVT-2.2). I talked with TSP and they said it will run fine with my stock torque converter which is a must, I don’t have the time nor resources to replace it. My main concern is I came across a thread in the LS forum about the >.600. lift could lead to excessive spring wear and require replacing every 30-40K miles. I absolutely love the lopey sound of big cams but I daily drive the truck and tow a fishing boat, I’d really appreciate your opinions on how I should approach this cam situation. Thanks in advance.

Welcome,

Give Texas Speed a ring. They’re fanatically familiar with what you want to do and can guide you to a kit that will maximize your goals. They’ll also let you know other possible options you may not be aware of to take advantage while you’re in there.

I'm running the TSP VVT stage one and it has a nice lope. To me, this cam is just barely in the realm for a daily driver. I have the L9H 6.2, I love the torque this cam puts out, it never runs out of steam. And after 3500 RPM, it it really flies. I upgraded my springs for the .600 lift.

TSP should obviously know better than I, but 227/239 seems like a lot of cam in one of these . i ran a 218/228 iirc vvt cam, .600/.600 lift in mine for 60k+ miles, with upgraded springs.
the only way youre going to stay close to off idle, stock cam power is by increasing the lift

went n found cam card for mine:
