Greetings to all,
Thank you for allowing me to join your community. I am looking forward to learning a lot of useful information about these vehicles from the tremendous wisdom assembled here.
As I alluded to in the title of my post, I am currently in the market for a GMT800 Yukon Denali XL. I intend to use this vehicle as sort of a do-it-all kind of beater. I am self-employed and every now and then it becomes necessary to move various large items, so I was originally looking at pickup trucks.
However, as I did my research, I learned that the Yukon is essentially a Sierra with an enclosed rear-end and third row seating. With the added presence factor that the Yukon XL possesses, I believe that it will do everything I wanted in a pickup but also add just that extra bit more in refinement.
My primary criteria are: 1) Reliability--I've seen dozens of examples with 250k plus on the odometer; 2) Durabiity--I don't plan to do serious off-roading in it but I do some business in rural areas so being able to handle farmland-type terrain is a plus; 3)Low Cost--I've seen some '02 and '03 examples with higher mileage under $5,000 so that would leave me a few thousand in reserve towards future maintenance; and lastly 4) Utility--It looks like whether you need to move people or cargo the Yukon XL does a great job of it comfortably.
I've already watched a lot of YT videos on these trucks and learned a great deal. Most of the ones I've seen are used car sales videos or "tour" videos. Unfortunately, there are not very many owner reviews, however. That's primarily why I joined this forum: to get the real scoop from actual owners what these trucks are like to live with on a daily basis.
If you have any tips or things to look for as I enter the market to purchase a vehicle, I'd love to hear what you have to say. Otherwise, I hope you will entertain me from time-to-time as I post in the forum to ask questions or seek clarification when necessary. I've spent a lot of times on forums so I know the search box is your friend, but if I can't find the answer to what I'm looking for I hope to avail myself of your combined knowledge.
Thanks again for having me. I look forward to participating in the community.
