Low voltage to the crank circuit from the remote start module. Didnt engage the bendix firmly enough.

So the issue is with the remote start module.

Not the starter?

What about the 2nd video. You have any idea what that could be.

Started making this noise a few days ago if that helps. It's intermittent though

Please take your time when making your video there's no rush. Especially if you're asking for someone to pin-point a noise. Also a brief description of noise pitch could help too. ie. the high pitched squeak/squeal, the low thud, the humming of air, whistle near manifold etc etc. Those are just a few ideas. Best of luck.

The problem starts with the remote start. If in fact that is the problem. The further damage is done to the starter drive and the flex plate as a result of the remote start low voltage. That grinding is happening when the teeth of the starter drive gear and the teeth of the flex plate do not synch ad they grind metal.

the first vid sounds exactly as stated above, the bendix is not driving far enough to engage the flywheel. the second vid sounds as though the bendix is not withdrawing quickly enough from the flywheel after the engine has started. the duration of the first vid is enough to have "fubar" your starter gear and or the flywheel in the area it did not engage. pull the starter, the gear will be damaged, rotate the flywheel, it will also be damaged. throw a starter at it and hope it is simply a bad bendix drive. $100 at oreilleys. the next time you turn the key it should be with a new/reman starter allready installed. the sound in the first vid is pure destruction.

If you can wait you can get a new AC Delco from Rock Auto for $158.79 plus shipping.

You can get AC Delco from Amazon with free shipping for new #3371033 $183.02 or AC Delco reman for $121.99 from Amazon

Make sure you have a way to move the engine around and inspect the teeth of the flex plate when you remove the starter.

The one from rock auto I’m pretty sure is a reman.

I’ll check amazon though. It comes direct from ACDelco ?

Thanks

Yes, AC Delco is direct to Amazon and the new price at Rock auto is what I typed in here and has no core charge. Believe it or not the reman one from Rock Auto is more expensive and that is why I did not even type in that price.

I just called My local GM dealer. The exact replacement starter is ACDelco # 323-1637 which is a higher output than the one from Rocauto & Amazon.

When I do a search for 323-1637 at Amazon it comes up for $283.00 AC Delco.
It also comes up with the GM number of 89017844
