I'm looking at doing a DOD Delete in the fall with a BTR Stage 1 VVT Camshaft and all the other necessary parts. I have 91k on the engine right now and I want to replace it before it goes out.

I'm keeping VVT because I like the benefit of it.

While I'm in there replacing the cam, lifters, springs, etc, I'm wondering if I should go ahead and replace the phasers and sensors.

I know we're not Ford with 2-year lifespan cam phasers, but I'm just curious if it should be replaced.

I have a 2008 Explorer with VVT. So far the phasers are fine. I think the Ford failures have more to do with using conventional oil vs synthetic, and keeping up with oil changes.
